If so, how long have you been playing and how long did it take you to learn? I've been thinking of learning piano.
I asked my brother once to give me guitar lessons, but he's a rather impatient Saggie. He would play something really fast, and then tell me to do it. Just like that! After twenty minutes he said he couldn't do that once a week for lengthy period of time because he would either kill me or himself.
6 months of organ lessons when I was about 7. Played recorder for a couple of years and did a couple music grades. Clarinet for about 5-6 years. Started playing piano at 12, but self taught, bought one and lay pretty much anything but enjoy classical the most. Also have a flute that i like to tinker around on. Will have a go at most musical instruments, did a different one each semester at high school. I don't remember learning to read music etc, did that at a young age.
How long it will take you, depends on your natural music ability. Whether you achieve your goal depends on your determination. 🙂
piano, guitar and drums.but i havent learnt them officially per se,just like that.i play by ear.though the guitar i learnt in school from another guy who used to play it.
Props to you! I don't see how you keep all those straight in your head, devil! Learning to play something is like learning a new language. And I've found more than one language in the head is enough to make one's brain nearly implode.
LOL! I know! It's sad isn't it? I actually wish they would make it mandatory in public schools here. It's much easier to learn those things as a child.
Ok I understand, I reckon though not many people would admit what youre saying now.. I know there is much more poverty in the U.S. than what most people think or the government wants to make people believe. If there is a tool that is effective to fight poverty, it must be education. The money is there, so they could obviously invest so much more in it but what the government does is put most of it into pointless wars. Americans need to learn to choose their president wisely..
****************** Although in America, I'd say Shaka, very well said. In particular about educaction.
Sometimes Americans get too proudy and never admit where they lack. I think of US will not learn how to compete on a global level they will fail big time. Very few people in here go for higher education in science or engineering, they import the talent from other countries. One day it could happen that those smart people from other contries can/will rule America unless Americans honestly admit and learn some good things except for fightting useless wars.
But even the richer kids, they get plenty of opportunities to be fluent in other languages but I think most of them still dont feel like even trying, so there must be something to American arrogance in it..
*********
You are right perhaps, Americans are known to be very arrogant and impolite on world scale. American English is not as rich as European English if we talk about literature. It's all small, arrogant phrases, most jokes are around sexual comments.
Is people are well travelled around the globe for educational or work or pleasure reasons, they will agree to what I have to say. Our news in US mostly cover US stuff, not much about world. They think we are the best of the best so why bother about others? They are happy in their own small circle. Over confidence is a killer in any thing, and for past couple of years I have been watching that attitude with US with current stupid president. i.e. US media cover a lot after Bhotto's death about her being a great friend of US, US was planning to use her to lower down Pakistan's current president's power who does not seem to be listening to Bush's "commands" .
Do you really believe with lots and lots of dollars, used by FBI and interpole, one person responsible for 9/11 can still be on the run unless not backed by Pakistan?
US needs to learn foreign relations and lots of other things out side of it's own small superiority complexed circle else we will be screwed up big time.
the stats do not take into account the cost of health care,
*********
Yup! "Health care" in world's most powerful and smartest country US is one of the worst in the world! Due to its sky rocketing prices people are now travelling to other countries for having treatments!
can only speak for what is going on in Michigan. 7.7 unemployment rate and we're number one in housing foreclosures.
********** HAHAHA housing foreclosures!!
It is because most americans are stupid. If one is buying a house 10 more stupid will do the same, instead of waiting. They all thought they will never get any better rates for loans.
We waited and now for investment, we are buying multiple of those houses that stupid people who can't afford to pay loans are selling at lesser prices!!!.
So, part of the problem is stupidity of people too.
Can't blaim government for every thing, governmnet did what is can to save those people by decreasing rates BUT if giovernment will do it many more times to fake the reality, definitely recession will be there and this time for longer than before.
Somehow I feel Obama is going to be robbed too, Im not sure the real "forces" behind the U.S. governement will allow a non-white, populistic president in the white house..
***********
Actually- I think that too. This country as yet can't accept a woman president although muslim countries and other third world countries had women presidents, US is still ORTHODOX. So is with race, although America will not admit it.
I personaly like Clinton, damn smart, she is brave to even compete in this male dominated world.
OH these "news" reports!!! Every one will write every thing about every one. I beleive in myself and do not get much influenced by writers. Similarly, I do not believe in "polls" and their results.
I can play the piano, guitar, and I'm learning saxaphone but it's really hard, the sax. Most women like the saxaphone so I'm learning to play it so I can have sax. 😛
"That is true for most people who are a product of generational poverty. With generational poverty, as I have mentioned, they have identified themselves as impoverished and can not visualize themselves as anything but that."
That's intresting to read and is a nice thought, bij but that's hardly true. America is all about rags to riches and as an American who's been in that situation, I know all about it.
I grew up with my sister and my mom most of my life as a kid and we had next to nothing, bijou. We lived on Mac 'n Cheese and milk or fryed bologna sandwhiches for years. We didn't have cable so my sister read books and I played Chess. On the outside we never looked that poor because my mom always gave us the neccessities and she always managed to give us a nice, holsome Christmas too even if there wasn't a buffet of food on the table or expensive gifts under the tree. But we had nothing, bij. At 15 I got a job at a hotel and could only keep 25% of the check in order to help out for certain things.
After that I went to jail for a little while and served a second jail term for a month shortly after the first one. My dad's side of the family are all and have always been employees of the post office and my Polish side have either been convicts or members of the U.S. Army. We are all blue collar guys at heart because of the poverty and we are raw, blunt, and slighty chaotic people with nothing more than a highschool diploma. But you know what? My grandpa owns a security company making over 150K a year, my dad has gotten 3 promotions, my mom is becoming a lawyer, and I am an independant business owner of vending machines and some other diverse ways of making income.
I can tell you from experiance that coming from a dirt poor childhood is actually the highest motivation to living a wealthy and comfortable life later on. You just have to try a little harder with a little less resources but in America ...This is where it's all possible.
And from listening to stories about my grandparents, they told me of how poor they were as well. They came here from Italy and my great grandparents came here from Poland. They saw dreams here in America. When they got here, the litter on the streets was still seen as gold and the 5 dollar a day wages was like a thousand bucks where they came from. We can hate Bush, we can hate the voting system, we can even hate the soggy McDonnald's hamburger. But just like the song says, if I were to start over with nothing but my family I wouldn'y choose anywhere but America.
I asked my brother once to give me guitar lessons, but he's a rather impatient Saggie. He would play something really fast, and then tell me to do it. Just like that! After twenty minutes he said he couldn't do that once a week for lengthy period of time because he would either kill me or himself.
I thought that was a mean thing to say. 😢
