There's this Pisces man I play poker with regularly (4 nights out of 7) .. and we have become close friends. He's very sweet and has a good heart .. a good man.

However, he's very touchy/feely .. and always strokes my shoulder or comments on my hair, or lightly caresses my hip or waist, or just things to show affection. And I know it's not flirty, he's not moving in .. his intentions are NOT to get me in some way .. he's just an affectionate kind of person and I know it doesn't mean anything more.

So, my question to you all is ..... do you measure a person by intention, or deed done?

If you had a touchy/feely person in your life who is the opposite gender and you knew that to touch you affectionately like that was just to show his friendship to you, would you freak out at the deed, or would you just blow it off and look at his intention is to just be friendly and this is how he shows it?

I guess I'm just struggling right now with intentions vs deed, for I know that karma is created from intention, not deed.

Another example would be .. there's another poker player there that nobody likes except me and my husband because he's a smartass and very cocky .. so people think he's an ass. But, his heart is gold.

If you actually listen to what he's saying, rather than his tone ... you find that this is just his personality, and most times he laughs or has a smile on his face when he comes out with a crack. And the smile isn't a mocking smirk .. he's trying to be funny. Other times, he'll say something condenscending that appears initially to be an insult, but, if you really listen to what he's saying ... he's trying to tell you something that you need to know for your own benefit.

His heart is pure gold .... he just delivers in contrary to the desire of ego to "hear" soothing.

So, I guess I'm trying to figure out how many people view intentions of a person, rather than just what is discerned on the outside, as it comes out.

Thanks for the response, Starfish.

I look at intention, too ... but, it appears that people are mixed about it. It's surprising to me how many people will say they understand 'cause and effect', but then base their view on effect, rather than cause ... and that's hard to wrap around my head.

Take like an accident, for example ..... if something serious happens due to an accident, then how can the deed doer of the accident be persecuted?
