Frankly...

I have met great people on here.

I am a black male, 28 years of age, born and raised and makin moves in TOLEDO.

I have VERY, VERY, VERY strong opinions on the "N" word.

Being here on dxp.net is probably one of the best things to happen to me this summer. (sad huh? hey , what can i say?)

Intelligent women.
Real conversations.
Topics.
Astrology and relationships..... finding all you to talk to about these things
means A WHOLE lot to me.

My friends are sick of me talking about that shyt ....LOL

What i'm getting to is this:

I DEEPLY VALUE the people i've found here on these boards.

and i've been going AGAINST my nature and PURPOSELY not looking at the
"N" word board because i'm fearful that i will read something that
anger me, hurt me or just plain lessen my enthusiasm to come here.

For all the white people here....

understand this:

Double standards, racism and even MORE double standards are the TRUE

foundation of The United States of America.

Minorities have NEVER truly been U.S. Citizens...

So how we deal with our identity,
how we fit into this society,
and whether or not our conditions get better or worse...are things that
will take many many many more years to perfect.

Your opinion can either help or hurt this process.

Choose wisely.

MR,

I'm a white female, age 47, from Washington, D.C. . . and this statement, "Minorities have NEVER truly been U.S. Citizens..."

For most of the time, up until just several decades ago, women, no matter the race, weren't considered equal to the white male. I know that black people do have this "bad history" that's hard to overcome and I understand that . . but, even white women have had to overcome this obsticle, rise above and come to grips that we belong to our society and are truly are US citizens.

So, eventhough, I'm not black and can't even begin to imagine how it feels to walk in your shoes . . I can remember back when I was in my 20's, just being a female . . anything. Men could sexually harrass us, make any sexual comments they wanted, some men even grabbed women's "part" and there was nothing we could do, except accept.

I realize it's not the exact same issue . . but, relative. My point is, I have some understanding as to why this is "sensitive" to you.

Tanya023, I totally agree with, "it's better to talk about it...and sometimes to ignore it.. if people are too stubborn to change, there would be no change at all even if they want it to happen" The reason for the "N" word thread was to discuss each person's point of view and I thought there are some pretty enlightening perspectives. Not everybody agreed with everyone else, but, that's what made it so wonderful, so powerful.

If everyone agrees on everything, then there's nothing to discuss, nothing to learn, nowhere to grow . . we might as well die and be done with it.

You should read that thread, most of it is very insightful as to why and how people feel, and how they process the information of other's perspective . . . everybody's views are theirs to own and that's ok . . . it doesnt' mean you have to own someone elses opinion, just grow from it.

"To be honest, the whole slavery and holacaust thing is all forced emotions. People want to make themselves feel bad about it."

Uh, maybe sometimes, but not all the time. You can honestly say that you have never read a story about the way these people were treated and not become infuriated and bitter? It destroys your faith in the human race. It's NOT a forced emotion. It's an AUTOMATIC reaction.

"And I know it is all cute and trendy to cry for people you've never met, or don't even really care about, but how about a real solution from time to time?"

People who do this annoy the piss out of me to, but don't say that some people aren't capable of being empathetic. Do you know what empathy is? Hmm? (if you've ever watched Family Guy, that was Stewie.)

I have intense emotions branh. Don't criticize things you don't understand. 🙂

Hey Eliza and Wheels,

I definately with Mercury on everything he had said ... that's why I feel it's unfair for all of this stuff to be put on a thread he created. The whole soul purpose for creating this thread was to give an alternate opinion.

I feel the thread has been destroyed now 😢 Not by you two! But by those who didn't keep the discussion where it started.

No ... I don't want Mercury to feel disrespected, that's why I'm stating this. LOL! Like Mercury, I refused to make a "serious" comment on the other board too ... for the same things he has stated.

Actually, he and Branh have alike viewpoints 🙂 🙂

ELIZA..TANYA....and the wonderful HONEY COE.... i love ya'll.... i thank ya'll.

Ya'll and a few others really make peace with your words.
I can read what others have said, get MAD HEATED and then calm down after
reading what the three of you have said(and others, but them are my faves !)

HONEY COE... you got a friend for life - no doubt.

OKAY.........MERCURY'S RESPONSE TO THIS SHYT ---------

This thread backfired on me obviously. Having 2nd thoughts, but hey.
DXP would be too good to be true if there werent a few ignorant fux lerking around.

FOR THE RECOR😱

#1. ME AND BRAHN have nothing in common. NOT A MUTHA FUKIN THING.

#2. Never said shyt about being a victim, never said shYt about slavery,
Never said shyt about enducing so called "white guilt " (that's some funny shyt)

#3. this is EXACTLY why i never went to the "N" word thread.

EXACTLY WHY.

I know me. I know i can't handle the careless attitude people bring to discussions of
RACE, ETHNICITY, U.S. SOCIETY .... yo - just being Black, Being a Woman etc.

I HATE the insensitivity, i HATE the sorry sarcasm, i HATE the evil people bring to these controversial subjects. It shows you the EXACT type of thinking that made things hard for minorities and women in the first place.

While in college, i had a sociology class.
U.T.'s student body is like 15% black, about 70% white.
When the WHITE professor taught about ANY black historical subject (slavery, civil rights) LITERALLY HALF of the white students would:

PUT THEIR HEADS DOWN ON THE DESK OR SIMPLY WALK OUT OF THE CLASS.

That showed me,

Open forum discussions do not work when white people are invited to discuss
the atrocities experienced by others.

Few will take the invite and have meaningful discourse.
But MOST will refuse the invite in some way, or take it and abuse it.

And like i said...it's just proof of the very mindset that allowed
all of the great tragedies of the world to occur.

and like my girl said: "it's a little too late to try to make someone feel guilty"

Well,

If a guy were to project his cultural background as being the main reason why I should go out with him ... then that would turn me off.

Sorry, I'm sooooo not into that stuff! Ugh! If you are a person, then that's what you are ... period. Jeeezzzz, if everyone was stripped of there nationality, race, creed, religion .... then we are all the same anyway ... ahaha just complexion differences 😛

Oh wait, certain races make a difference in complexions too! Oh dear ... it never ends 😢

Phew! Well it ends with me ... to hell with all the trifles 😉

Okay, I see what you're saying SB ... hmmmm, I guess I like to think I can identify regardless of where someone comes from. There was one girl I went to school with that was such a snob! She would talk seriously to anyone outside her own cultural group! Give me a break, I couldn't believe her ... she put the the "I" in self-important. Haha, I guess she felt I was suppose to be just like her ....

Whatever 😛 @ Her

Honey...baby...sweetie coe.

NO ONE was trying to ....look, you know i dont wanna piss you off 🙂

Ayo... I can explain her point to ya'll though ...she was talkin about

"black on black" crime.

If you've never heard of that, then you've probably never heard of Willie Lynch either.

And that's okay...but it does mean our convo on this topic can only go so far.

I appreciate all the conversation...i hope that i've been able to bring something to DXP.

Let's get off this racial stuff.

How do i pull the plug on this thread ?? LOL.

"By Indian I mean Indian citizens. Or to be more precise to clear confusion Citizens of India."

SB,white people called american natives that not themselves until they found out no matter how much correcting they did,it wasn't going to change.Wasn't really an insult either just apparence based misinformation really.Natives usually still consider themselves thier tribes name before indian just normally not too offended by it much as the savage or the overly romantic, crystal waving hippy stuff, etc. My BQ is only at half but that half is still cherokee and apache not indian🙂

Otherwise, the other topic is just a couple of people trying to tell certain people the "N" word is a direct insult but since its "cool" or whatever to use it now,I guess its "Okay"*rolls eyes*.So yeah, anyone who doesn't want to smack people in the head with the history of the word,It'd be a good idea to stay off of it😉

thanx for ur sweet words Mercury rising.... u rock 😛

My point is that there will always be separation and discrimination within the human race.

Totally agree.....people will use anything to make ya feel inferior, their education or their $ $ $ $ $ $ $ , or color, or height or religion or whatever....its crazy....why cant we just accept and respect everyone for their individuality—? .....

WWE Verbal Smackdown

Haha!!! You are such a mind reader 😉

Honeycoe,

~sigh~ last night I felt that you were trying to turn modest conversation into an arguement, so I left... not everyone falls for that kind of thing 😉

SB and I were just making observations concerning how weird some things may seem. Hahaha, you haven't been around long enough I see ... SB and I agree to disagree most of the time ... it's fun 😄

Keeping up tension —?

Wow ... because I state my experience? Yeah, okay ... whatever ^_^.

Willing accomplice —?

Good grief! Haha, I see why SB took her leave after that comment. 😉

You know what I find that is so hard for us all to communicate on here and be civil?

It's the tone in ones voice, the look on their face . . it's absent here in this land. The only thing we have is typed words. The expression on ones face speaks louder than any words that can be typed . . so, it's hard for other's to fully comprehend where the other is coming from . .
