Geographically speaking, why and how did the U.S get ownership of this cold frozen zone in the far North? It doesn't seem to make much sense to me...

Yes, hopefully in the future Canada will be able to stand up and protect its own abundant natural resourses (even very competitive industries like lumber)...thankfully we do have a dedicated stubborn PM (Taurus) in there now..*because once and if we start pipelining out our fresh natural waterways to the u.s, there may be no turning back. Strength and courage in Canada's leadership and its own rightful independancy as a sovereign nation will certainly make or break the future of this wonderful Country.

Alaska is beautiful like Antarctica...it should always be preserved and protected for many reasons...yes, independant and free of politics.

Q is a nut case. As for Alaska it should be up to the people who live there. Right now its U.S.A. land just like eastern Canada is not french. In the future Alaska can become part of Canada, mideastern Canada can become part of france, eastern Canada can become part of U.S. and Norway can become part of Missouri and I get to be king and have Q as a Guest in my Laboratory.
