i'm thinking Gore makes much more of an evectual semi-environmentalist/lecturer, than a politician. Still haven't watched, 'An Inconvenient Truth' as of yet; a docu-film about climate chaos/global warming. Looks quite compelling, though.
"The film includes many segments intended to refute critics who say that global warming is insignificant or unproven. For example, Gore discusses the risk of the collapse of a major ice sheet in Greenland or in West Antarctica, either of which could raise global sea levels by approximately 20 feet (6m), flooding coastal areas and producing 100 million refugees. Meltwater from Greenland, because of its lower salinity, could halt the Gulf Stream current and quickly trigger dramatic local cooling in Northern Europe."
"The documentary ends with Gore noting that if appropriate action is taken soon, the effects of global warming can be successfully reversed by releasing less carbon dioxide and growing more plants or trees. Gore calls upon viewers to learn how they can help in this initiative."
I know, forethought is everything. I' m just glad that more and more people are talking about it; global awareness being equally important. It's everyone's responsibility today, to ensure the health and integrity of our planet for many future generations. Even if there are certain hits and misses along the way, something will stick. Definately, alternative energy sources should be first on the list, regardless; I so agree. Let's at least make the air cleaner.
"I hope its CO2 thats causing the earth to warm as opposed to the sun because if its the sun we're in deep crap."
Well there's about 5 billion years left to go with the Sun, as we know it. Come to think of it, I hope it's the co2 as well, because then at least we can have some type of control and measure. At any rate, it looks like they're keeping a very close eye on those ever changing patterns of sun-spots on the sun's surface, as they can be very telling too.
btw, solitas..*that second link; was it supposed to be about Global Warming on Pluto? ..just wondering! ..🙂
"Now we can hypothesize then that if other planets that do not have humans on them are getting warmer then human changes to the earth are not completely responsible for the earths warming. Of course, at this point its a theory just like evolution, global warming, etc"
Interesting point, solitas; science does have so many possible variables. Hits and misses all over the place; i guess it's the nature of the beast, as long as they keep plugging away, and never give up; each one teaching and bettering the next generation of leading scientists and researchers, before them. (i know it's a whole other topic, but let's keep education affordable, too. Potential should never be wasted; there are so many brilliant minds out there, just waiting to make a difference.)
Btw, what did or is still causing that massive hole in the ozone layer, anyway? Is it the greenhouse gases alone? Or is this too simplistic? The biggest part of the hole or tear, i believe is over Antarctica, Canada. One of the cleanest places on our planet. God's country..LOL! Could it be slowly repairing itself? i think i may have read, ages ago. i sure hope so. At any rate, i definately have to see that Gore docu; likely he'll touch on that. ..🙂
"Al Gore should go into marketing, what a great piece of work he created."
i agree, primegen; this definately fit him like a glove; i think he found his niche. Even non-believers, came away mesmerized, and in much deeper thought. Truth, fact or fiction.
With great fanfare, in March, Al Gore took Capitol Hill like a conquering hero as he testified on Global Warming before both houses of Congress. Fresh from conquests at the Academy Awards where his adoring Hollywood elites showered him with coveted golden statues for spreading their favorite propaganda, Gore was determined to turn his personal conquest into draconian federal law and ultimate human misery.
Gore's words to Congress were predictable. The earth is warming. The polar ice caps are melting. Polar bears are on the run. And it's man's fault. Solution? Ban or control human activities. The mantra of the religion of Global Warming is getting a little boring. It's quite possible, however, that Gore's appearance on the Hill actually represents the beginning of the end of his influence on climate policy rather than the start of a legislative tsunami.
Why? Because even after the Global Warming storm troopers, armed with billions of dollars, the backing of the Hollywood elite, the news media and most of academia have done everything possible to threaten, bully and force their one-sided propaganda on us, the so-called global warming skeptics seem to be coming out of their hiding places in ever greater numbers. The debate is now taking a dramatic change. As the skeptic side is heard, more Americans are beginning to understand that there are legitimate reasons for skepticism. Here are just a few of the latest developments.
Item: Just days before Gore's charge up Capitol Hill, a high profile climate debate between prominent scientists ended with global warming skeptics being voted the clear winner. Before the start of the debate, held in New York City, the audience polled 57.3% to 29.9% in favor of believing that Global Warming was a crisis. But following the debate the numbers completely flipped to 46.2% to 42.2% in favor of the skeptical point of view. Conclusion - when people hear both sides they can easily judge for themselves what is truth.
Item: On March 13, The New York Times, one of the most adamant promoters of the Global Warming gospel, published a landmark article stating "scientists argue that some of (former Vice President Al) Gore's central points are exaggerated and erroneous."
Item: French scientist Claude Allegre, a prominent French Socialist and supporter of Global Warming dogma, recanted his belief in man-made catastrophic global warming and now says promotion of the idea is motivated by money.
Item: One of Israel's top young scientists, Nir Shaviv, recently reversed his opinion, declaring that the link between emissions and climate variability has nothing more that "circumstantial evidence."
Item: The United Kingdom's famed environmental activist David Bellamy also recently converted to skepticism, as did Meteorologist Reid Bryson, who has switched from the 1970's global cooling scare to a global warming skeptic.
Item: A report by the Heartland Institute, entitled "What Climate Scientists Really Say About Global Warming," exposes the weakness of the "consensus" claims of Global Warming shock troops. To reach its findings the report examined two surveys conducted among climate scientists; the first in 1996, and the second in 2003. Both surveys confirm scientists are divided on the issue. Says the report - More climate scientist "strongly disagree" than "strongly agree" with the notion that climate change is caused by humans. Most climate scientists do not believe "the current state of knowledge is able to provide reasonable predictions of climate variability" over 100-year periods. Only 2 percent of climate scientists surveyed "strongly agree" that modeling programs designed to predict climate changes are accurate, and Almost all climate scientists agree that climate change could have "positive effects for some societies."
Item: After Global Warming propagandists rushed to declare that the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report proved conclusively that Global Warming was caused by human action, (a report by the way that won't be released until May) the just released summary predicts less global warming than was forecast by previous IPCC reports.
At least the loser like Gore had balls to make a movie to save the nature/planet or at least making us aware of the facts? what the fucker in the Whitehouse did..?? defame the Americans and destroy the nature?
Let me ease up your job you fool, bullshits from local hooligans and from sep.2006?
LMAO
Urination will go to committee. A local decision that schoolboys must sit on toilet seats when urinating has provoked political debate.
The head of The Democrats Party, a splinter group of former Progress Party hardliners, Vidar Kleppe, is outraged that boys at Dvergsnes School in Kristiansand have to sit and pee.
Kleppe accuses the school of fiddling with God's work, and wants the matter discussed at the executive committee level of the local council, newspaper Dagbladet reports.
"When boys are not allowed to pee in the natural way, the way boys have done for generations, it is meddling with God's work," Kleppe told the newspaper. "It is a human right not to have to sit down like a girl," Kleppe said. Principal Anne Lise Gjul at Dvergsnes School would not comment on Kleppe's plans to make political waves and regretted if anyone was offended by the ban on standing and passing water.
Gjul told NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting) that the young boys are simply not good enough at aiming, and the point was to have a pleasant toilet that could be used by both boys and girls.
All you can find about Norway is to rant a bullshits and the way of political handling of peeing..?? for your PERSONAL INTEREST and information about the matter, I prefer to SIT and PEE because I hate to feel LIKE ANIMALS which PEEing wherever/whenever in standing position, does it mean I am against THE GOD and THE NATURAL WAY?..?? is this something to do with the global problem we are face it nowadays..??
LMAO?
Now this person Vidar Kleppe, is an local idiot RIGHT WING sucker ?and his party? that love to kissing American (especially neocons) ass. Which nobody sane takes them seriously since WW2, do yourself a favour and next time do some research (at least) before you fill up this pages with your crap.
They are here because of democracy, not because of they are right.
Tell me? how many rednecks like you supports the bushits and I will tell you about the future of America?!
Again? ladies sitting and peeing does it makes them against the Nature and GOD..??
The US marines say they came under fire after a roadside bombing
A US Marine who led the unit accused of killing 24 Iraqi civilians in Haditha shot five men as they stood with their hands in the air, another marine said.
Staff Sgt Frank Wuterich then told his comrades to lie about it and blame the Iraqi army, a court heard on Wednesday.
Sgt Sanick Dela Cruz was speaking at a hearing for one of the four officers charged with dereliction of duty for not investigating the killings.
Three other marines have been charged with second-degree murder.
Iraqi witnesses say the shootings were in retaliation for a roadside bomb that had killed Lance Cpl Miguel Terrazas as his convoy drove through Haditha, 240km (150 miles) north-west of Baghdad, on 19 November 2005.
'Bad thing'
Sgt Dela Cruz also told the military courtroom at Camp Pendleton in California that he urinated on the body of an Iraqi civilian.
US inquiries into Iraq deaths
He told the court of the distress he felt after discovering the explosion had ripped Lance Cpl Terrazas, known as TJ, in half.
"I know it was a bad thing what I've done, but I done it because I was angry TJ was dead and I pissed on one Iraqi's head," he said.
He also testified that after the explosion Staff Sgt Frank Wuterich had shot dead five men as they stood by a white car with the hands in the air.
"They were just standing, looking around, had hands up," he said.
"Then I saw one of them drop in the middle."
"Looked to my left, saw Sgt Wuterich shooting."
Afterwards Sgt Dela Cruz said he himself had "sprayed" the bodies with gunfire.
"I knew they were dead, I wanted to make sure," he explained.
Immunity
Sgt Wuterich then shot each of the men in the upper body and head, Sgt Dela Cruz testified. He told me that if anybody asked, [we should say] they were running away and the Iraqi army shot them Sgt Sanick Dela Cruz
"He went to every single one of them, sir, and shot them," he added.
"He told me that if anybody asked, they were running away and the Iraqi army shot them."
Sgt Wuterich's lawyer, Neal Puckett, said Sgt Dela Cruz's account was "false" and that he had told investigators up to five different versions of the events.
"It's unfortunate that in exchange for his freedom he's being forced to testify against his brothers," Mr Puck
But no Awww poor those people that get killed by American self-righteous/stupid greed and foreign policies logic every damn seconds- 356 days a year in 70 years after WWII?.!
9/11 was the excuse to start the war and killing more of the creature called ?human? especially the one from the Islamic faith?! Our beloved Capt. Ahab was killed by a terrorist leader named the ?Moby dick? and all we want is to get rid of this terrorist and its cult as well?!
Similarity of the story above:
They are both FICTION
Differences are:
You guys are hunting the HUMANS for fun and the profits, but we are aiming the animals for the same reason..!
Not long ago you've talked about your teacher that said something about matriarchies something too?.Somewhere in remote island in Africa?.. !!! (ring a bell primegen??)
To add?
I have a friend from the USA and he says, all Americans are stupid? that's for sure?
Please do add 100,000 more bullshit posts, who cares.. but you'll never manage to cover up your crap ?.! EVER..
THAT MOVIE WAS BULLSHIT AND WEAK!!! A LIBERAL LIE TO WEAKEN OUR ECONOMY AND GET RID OF MY SUV! AL GORE IS AN ASS AND A LIAR! VOTE REPUBLICAN AND GET RID OF THIS TRASH! GLOBAL WARMING IS A HOAX OF THE LIBERAL MEDIA AND WE GOOD AMERICANS SHOULD TRUST IN GOD AND OUR PRESIDENT TO RID US OF THESE LIES!
"Please do add 100,000 more bullbutter posts, who cares.. but you'll never manage to cover up your crap ?.! EVER.."
And no matter how much you post you will never have a country that is as magnificant and powerful as ours. Unlike your kind, we actually back up what we believe and what is right instead of sit in our little corner of the world and rub and bitch about our aching vaginas. Thank you for being born outside of this country. We appreciate it.
Your right. There is definately something affecting the climate on earth but the science behind the argument of it being man made is no where near conclusive. Most of the orgainizations studying global climate that are not funded by political interrest groups say outright that the human caused carbon emissions argument doesn't have a leg to stand on. In fact one of the latest findings in which a completely independant research organization studied the co2 content in glacier layers suggest that the tempreture is actually cooler over history with greater levels of atmospheric carbon, and all that can be really concluded is that co2 is not a relevant factor in global warming.
The likely cuase is the sun. The sun has been more active in sunspots over the last ten years where global warming has increased the most.
Global warming has always been used as a political scare tactic. At one point I found a bunch of newspaper headlines from the twenties on up and since then there have been "global warming iminant", or "prepare for the next ice age" headlines to scare the readers and give the elected officials ammunition for their cantidacy.
Heres the thing. The earth's temperature is rising. If it rises enough, along with ocean surface temperatures the HUGE ocean freshwater current that has a great affect on our climate will be greately affected and the result will be massive global cooling, ice age kind of thing. It is a real threat but it is not something that is man made and I think that the politicans who use this scientifically inconclusive topic for their political advantage through scare tactics are dispicable. Just like this last "comprehensive illegal immigration bill" (Amnesty) was insulting and dispicalbe.
