im not jumping in to this conversation but i do have a couple of observations.
there is a difference between the panam flight and the iranian flight. planning an event, planting a bomb and intentionally blowing up a civilian aircraft is a terrerist activity.
accidentally shooting down a civilian aircraft is a accident. i served in the military, we dont wake up thinking that we want to kill innocent people. soliders dont just get bored and decide to just let one fly, and launch rockets at the wrong target on purpose with the intention of killing civilians. especially from a naval gun. somewhere a mistake was made if such an event occurs. that is the difference between a terrorist attack and an accident.

Its kind of beacon that constantly sends and receives information about its position, "kind of ID" in standard radio waves that can be monitored from any type of radars, anywhere in the world "if the pilot turn it off then plane would be rendered as Unknown"...
Then the Military jets?they have a same transmitter but ONLY known to their country's radar operators!

If any hostile forces to that vessel were presented at that moment then it should be sunk by the time of firing the missile "because anti ship missiles could be fired at 60+ miles with the fire and forget technology" they are undetectable by the radars and fly at high speed "mach 1.0+" right to the target at sea level!

The Ansar Al Islam leader Mullah Krekar lives in Norway and organise his troops in the middle east. Mullah Krekar has become an icon and a hero among parts of the rapidly increasing Muslim community in Norway. His organisation, Ansar Al Islam, kills coalition forces in Iraq.
Norway is currently providing a safe heaven for Krekar and members of his organisation. Lately the Norwegian Police has dropped the terrorism charges against him. The 2nd January Mullah Krekar was arrested again in January 2004 for organising several terrorist acts in Iraq. However it is likely that the terrorist friendly Norwegians will release him, or allow him to continue his work from the Norwegian Prisons.
During the court hearings in Oslo the 3rd January 2004, it was obvious that the Norwegian authorities have had knowledge about planning and organising of several suicide missions organised by Mr. Krekar and his organisation.
