I truly love the man. Of course most of that is based on his platform, and his ideas about where to take the country in the future, and so on...but there is also this indescribable quality to him that I just really like for some reason, and I can't quite put my finger on it. It's an aura thing. I like the way he comes across as strong yet gentle at the same time--perfect presidential qualities. I don't think he's robotic, either (although all those SNL skits with Darrel Hammond absolutely crack me up). I just think he's a bit of a nerd, which is acceptable in a politician, don't you think? And personally I would take "stuffy" and "formal" over "cowboy" and "billybob" any day...sorry GWB fans out there. Every time I see Gore in an interview, I am strangely transfixed. It's the weirdest thing. I can't stop listening to him talk. He's perfect.
Are you on drugs!LOL How can you be fixated on a man that is considered 'Mr.Boring'? He puts the majority of people to sleep, but I do like him; he would make a fine leader, and should have been the 43rd, but had the presidency stolen from him.
LOL...I know, leave it to me to find "Mr.Boring" the most interesting man on the planet 😛
It's strange. I think it's just because I agree one hundred percent with almost everything that comes out of his mouth.
So you agree he'd be a good leader Suzy? Right on! Yes, I believe the Suprememe court selected our "president" back in 2000. It truly is amazing if you really think about how close that election was. I stayed up all day and night on election day until 3 o'clock in the morning when they finally "decided" that Florida was Bush's, and it was so upsetting! I sooooooooo did NOT want Bush to win that election. I knew he was trouble. Gore would have been (and will be, if he runs again) perfect for the job.
Anyone watch that Barbara Walters interview with Al and Tipper? It was quite charming; they're both kind of funny in a nerdy way. lol. Also I saw Al and Tipper on Larry Kind Live last night, and thought they came across as anything but boring! They made jokes, they came across much less "stiff" than they used to be seen as being.
How on earth did the Republican Party get the reputation for being the "ethical" "morally upstanding" party? I see amny of the republican politicians being much more devious and scheming and "dirty" than Democrats. I think Democrats are just more open about their mistakes for the most part, and I also think Republican scandals are far more disturbing than most Democratic scandals.
I don't agree with everything Gore says/wants.... such as more censorships on the television and for youth access to movies... but overall I think he's better then Bush in just about everything. I'm excluding the handling of 9/11 and such because we never can tell how a person reacts in sucha n instance.
Pheonix... Republicans are "moral" because they believe in traditional values, conservative values. These are generally considered the better values in society... The conservative Republicans are against abortion rights because of the moral aspect and against hmosexual marriages because they believe it corrodes morals... etc. etc. These are all republicans (just to save myself from backlash by that minority on the boards) but a number of them.
Lol, I think every fifty years there should be a period of world wide anarchy so that if any changes in society and government need to take place, they do.
Haha, yeah, which is the 'best idiot'?! Politics is not about 'good leadership' anymore, it's about votes and running down the opposition. They are so busy doing that that they have forgotten all about the important things, like running the country well, representing the people, like they should be, and implementing good policy. Most of them are evil, self-serving bastards. Sorry to use this word, but it's true. Vote for the least evil i say.
hey really think about it. Do you want someone who is a brilliant genius running our country? Do you know what she/he could be doing in office while she/he makes it seem like she/he is doing something else? I don't want someone in office whose policies and political ideas I cannot understand because his IQ is 100 times htat of mine. We want someone we can control. An idiot is the easiest to control. We would have put a kid in office if we didn't think that the enemy would try to negotiate treaties with bribes of free candy bars. hehe i guess i'm a bit tired and most of my ingenius nonsensical philosophies come out at this time.
Hey this turned into a really interesting discussion...very interesting to see everyone's thoughts on politics in general. I hate to say this, but I do combine intuition with knowlege when I vote for people. Is that bad? I feel bad saying that, because I know it's supposed to be strictly knowlege of the candidates and their platforms that decides your vote, but...I just can't ignore it when I get that "bad feeling" about someone. And I truly feel that when it comes down to it, Al Gore is a good soul. I don't know exactly why I feel this way, but I definitely do. He reminds me of one of the best teachers I ever had, a perfect combination of discipline, brilliance, gentleness and authority. Yes, I know that all politicians do the PR thing, and they all polish themselves to appeal to the most people possible, but I feel that he strongly believes in what he's saying, I get an "honest" vibe from him.
No its not bad pheonix... unless you're a politician or the candidates have very radical strong views, it is nearly impossible to separate them with the exception of a party. It takes too much time and energy to really research each candidate in order to have a firm basis for voting...intuition is the way i look at politicians (ex: despite great hate in my all-republican county against Hilary Clinton, my intuition says she is awesome so if she ran for presidency I'd probably vote for her)
I'd vote for Gore over Bush anyday. I think Bush is a dangerous man, mark my words, if this war goes ahead with Iraq, it will have DIRE consequences for us all.
I would vote for Hilary Clinton above ANYBODY right now. Apart from that, i think she is hot...!
I think it would be great to have a female leader... But she was really rude to me and my class when we went to washington. We waited like two hours to see her, and she stayed like two minutes and didn't even care about us.
What do you mean she was rude? What did she say? Why was she visiting? I think the thing is the politicians we have schmooze so well and if she is a good person, but had a bad hair day, then that doesn't mean she won't be a good leader. I suppose what i am trying to say is that she might not be able to handle one-on-one situations or class situations very well, but she may be a good leader. I am still interested to know what she said and how she came across as 'rude'. I think my instincts tell me she would be a good leader though. I think she would be fair and equatable. Basically, we need God to come down and lead cos no one else is doing a good job of it right now.
Libra- morgan is exagerating for I disagree with her on this one. When a senator is heading towards the Capitol building and has to go to a Senate meeting- she has to be there on time. She had to take a picture with how many schools? ten maybe? and instead of one picture like she was supposed to have with us, each person wanted to use their own camara-I woldn't have given us the time for that either. And also, we may have been waiting an hour but how can one expect that the senator and former first lady will have no interuptions, no pressing engagements that suddenly appear? Of course, it doesn't really help that nobody in our damn republican district likes her and has no legitimate reason behind it. Sorry, just ranting again I guess.
Are there any Deocrats out thee? Republicans? Whigs? Labor Party? Socialists? Free-Soilers? Green Party? Independents? Libertarians? Communists? Marxists? Anarchists? Right-to-Life? Reform? Pacifists? World Workers? Light Party? Natural Law Party? Fascist
