Yeah I know the prices in UK too, just wanted to say, 3 $ per gallon is not expensive as the whole US nation gone mad by this price jump for a lousy 50 cents.
Move to Venezuela and pay 12cents per litre, that?s fair and cheap rate. 🙂
The excuses for high prices of petroleum products in Norway are for the protections of environments and nature, where it is absolutely nonsense.
Humans may control the (imaginary borders of their own countries) and stop other humans to move freely in their regions, but the air and waters not knowing any borders.
So why in the god name US citizens with those bulky gas hungry cars shouldn?t follow and respect the international environmental protections programs like the rest of the western hemisphere..??
Like today I saw an article that UK also decided to stop cars older than 8 years? (same bullshits happened here 10 years ago here too.
Quite frankly, Qbone, I agree with your premise here. Americans (yes, I am one, proudly) are really freaking whiiinnny about gas prices.
"Oh I've got it, let's boycott Exxon and bring gas prices back to the good ol days." Get a life. "It's an oil company conspiracy!" Umm, let's see, I've worked with the oil business, and I've seen what happens when oil prices go up. THEY START DRILLING LIKE MADMEN. At least that is what's happening in my area (midwest). They want more money, so they drill more oil, faster. This is how business, and economics in general, works. Higher prices have attracted more people willing to supply the good. Alternatives (ethanol especially) are also becoming very big in the area.
Like I say, you either understand economics, or you're a democrat.
Americans do not have a rail system or bus system like we have . you can go anywhere in the U.K. buy rail or bus or walk they can't. I know I lived there.
In reality.. Public transportations are much more expensive than private transportations in Europe.
Nevertheless, my point was to express the gas prices and the way "we pay " without "complaining".
Say.. I move many time between Sweden and Norway at least 5 times a months 5 years ago it cost me 3000 Nkr..
Now its about double around something like 900 $ .... transportation is as important as US, and like I said it add to the price be it goods or service..
And about local transportations like bus and train..
Moving around the city and area.. from 0 to 20 km is about 23 Nkr..up to 50 km is about 40 nkr and so on..
Same goes for train as well (train system in Norway is all electrical).. and Norway is famous to export both oil and electricity.
Man you can ramble on and on,Q not to worry Rover made a great many redundent now vaxhall will do the same here. soon everone else will own our auto industrie and we will al walk and bike about.
walking and metro is just fine with me. Apart form saving on gas I get to keep up with my favourite hobby which is a big help for me professionally- Observing people.
Today I had this huge argument with some supposedly educated "academically level" low life, stupid Racist bunch of idiots (mostly WOMAN type) about the 3rd world and particularly female's position in 3rd word?.
