To males: what is your experience of dating websites? They haven't really worked for me. Do you think women go on them just to boost their egos by seeing how many guys they can interest/string along or maybe use if the guy has money? Maybe it doesn't help that the dating website I am with at the moment is a free one so perhaps especially there women just enrol because they are bored and feel like messing guys around and maybe raising their hopes only to walk away. I have met very few women through these sites (including one paid-for one that I used to be a member of some years ago) and one woman I had to travel quite a way to meet (in her hometown) was somewhat arrogant and it turned out had lied to me about her name, her age and her occupation!

I know you're not asking the ladies this question but as a lady whose tried online dating 3 times and struck out 3 times, I can say that online dating isn't the ideal way to meet people. For me it was too awkward. Not organic at all. And of course it felt like I was "auditioning for the role as your girlfriend" and not getting to know you naturally. I didn't try online dating for an ego boost and neither did my girlfriends who tried it themselves. What they all said was how hard it was meeting someone good that you click with. I think it's just hard to meet someone you click with. And we do look at the other gender and feel like they're playing us when really they're not.

Some things are asking for trouble. Also who has the time to go out of their way to go through all that? If i want to meet someone i'll go out, live my life, and meet people. I've already seen them in person its natural and simple.

100% agree with this assessment. Plus dating for dating's sake just isn't fun. Much much better to look closer to home & get to know someone naturally. Smart bull here.
