indulge me. what exactly is the holy spirit? why do people pray to it? why do prayers have to be written out for you to quote verbatim? aren't you supposed to pray from the heart? why are you supposed to kneel in prayer? i thought god was supposed to be a father figure....i've never knelt before my father when asking him for cash...why am i supposed to kneel before god, the father...when communicating with him?
what does amen actually mean?
it all seems a little insincere to me. what's the point of an insincere prayer?
sorry...i'm a non-practicing jew. i've recently learned about the power of prayer from my mother but i don't get the christian take on how it's supposed to be done. i want to understand why there are all these ways of addressing the greater power people refer to as god. personally, my prayers are like one way conversations...i don't feel the need to supplicate myself in this process...why do christians do that?
