So I've started a new job, I'm about 4 weeks in. It's a female dominated environment although there are men about. In the beginning, everything was great; I was my usual bubbly self and everybody loved it. But in the last week or so there's been bitchiness, not so much about my work ethic (I've got that down) but most of the women are really picky about what I do, say or how I behave. It seems my very presence causes a stir. I know they have been talking about me behind my back (this I expect in the workplace) and they've made remarks about what I wear, my makeup etc. There's also a very handsome premises assistant guy that most of the women like but he seems to be more interested in me (he's always finding me when he arrives) which is also causing an atmosphere.

Yesterday I was outside with him doing a risk assessment on play equipment. We were talking and one woman (an Aries) said 'we have children indoors, think of the ratio.' She didn't ask me personally to come back in; it was like a throwaway comment blatently aimed at me and she also knew the staff-children ratio was fine.

Most of the staff are made up of pisces, aries, capricorns and libras. I'm the only sag there as far as I know.

I've been retreating back in my shell a bit just until things die down as I feel I can't be myself at the moment.

How do the fellow Sags deal with politics in the workplace? What behaviour do you tolerate of people? How do you find your happy medium at work?

The men there are great; no issues, no bitchiness and no drama...why can't the women be the same?!

Sorry if this is too forward, but are you a teacher?
I work as a teacher and for me I generally am nice to everyone tho I have been told by my friend that the manager and boss are always talking about me. Not necessarily always in a bad way, but to her as a Korean she doesn't like it. I don't let it get to me tho. I'm always nice to the manager, even though I know her smiles are fake :p

GIRL....! Woman to woman, you have to ignore them. It sounds like it is all jealousy and that is exactly why I do NOT....I repeat DO NOT hang out with women very often period and I have made my career in an industry dominated by men. In the workplace it's worse because you sound as if you may carry yourself differently than they do. Women will never be like men so you can forget that but don't feed into that drama. Have confidence and let them talk. That means you have given them something to do. 🙂

The last thing you want is to be labeled as "typical or hanging out with a crowd" in the office. Keep being you, tell them (in your mind) to kiss your A** and keep walking!! Do you!! As my mother has always taught me from a young girl and I didn't know what she meant until I got older -- Men m

I dominate the workplace and any group that i am apart of. I cant help but to run the show. I walk into work, asses cowrokers, find out what makes people tick, and then i assimilate and take over. I become such a force, that people eventually join the team. There's no organization who has successfully ran me.

You have to figure out your audience and then proceed. like you said, take a step back, and observe. observe some more. then work that sag charm. Laughter and getting to know people on a personal basis works wonders.

Soon, you will run the show.
