So the state Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage today, following Massachusetts. Living and having lived in both states, I can say I did a 180 on this issue.
When it happened in Mass., I was kind of pissed because it just a public distraction. Today, I just don't care.
Now that gays can marry, maybe they can allow straights to enter domestic partnerships - a.k.a., marriage-lite. I'd be in favor of that.
My hope is that this ferrets out all the lesbos and girl-leaning bi-women out everywhere to make the state that much safer for single straight men.
They should be allowed to marry. Everywhere. Who does it hurt?
Besides, they're having entirely too much fun. Nothing like a dose of married life to take the wind outta those sails. I feel that everyone should have equal opportunity to be miserable and suicidal. 🙂
What? On gay marriage? Or domestic partnership (whatever that is)?
If your statement was in relation to gay marriage, how does it affect you if two men or women chose and are ALLOWED to get married? Why can't two people be happy and / or marry no matter what?
My gosh, the narrow-mindedness never ceases to amaze me.
I'll just tell you honey, gay people aren't thinking about straight people. Nope, they're usually too busy getting on with their lives and having fun.
I agree with Sea Siren... Right on sista!
Ahh, by the way SR, i don't know which porn you have been watching, but most girl-leaning girls that i know wouldn't waste their time with a guy... They know what they can get from a woman!
"Personally, i think gay guys are alot more attractive than straight ones, because they take care of their bodies and appearance more, where as alot of straight men get beer belly's by the time their 30"
Boo. Hiss. Boo.
:: from all the straight metrosexuals out there ::
I have to chime in on this because a friend and I were just talking about this. I think it was a mistake on the gay communities part to continue to pursue marriage after being granted domestic partnerships. After all, it is the perfect alternative to marriage. I'll be the first to say that I don't know all the details to it, but my understanding is that partners are treated the same way as spouses. At my job, here in LA, they can have them on their insurance policies etc., pretty much everything as a spouse. So why take it further when they could have the benefits of marriage and avoid all the pitfalls - divorce. A marriage is 2 people standing in front of God (or whatever you call her 🙂 ) and saying we're going to spend the rest of their lives together. You do not need the governments approval for that. What you DO need the government approval for is to get out of it. Here's where they are facing problems. Not every state allows Gay Marriages so when they travel to another state to get married and once they decide to divorce they have to go back to that state to divorce. Only there are some states (MA for one) that won't allow divorces for non residents. You have to live there a year in order to file for divorce. A lot of gay people are realizing that until your state actually allows the marriage there's really no way out of it unless you're willing to move to the state that performed the marriage.
Anyway, I totally agree with the statement that I wish straight people were allowed Domestic Partnerships. With the divorce rate being at 50% (gays will be no better at it) why enter into it when you have this great alternative. We need some straight to get together and start a petition or something.
