ok this is a bit of a ridiculous confession considering my age but........oh well, LOL!!
i sometimes get a little carried away listening to music...mostly when i'm on my own in the car or late at night before i go sleepies. i used to be a session singer and so still have a bit of wannabe in me i guess, lol. but i mean proper into it as in i'm completely at a stadium, i am always surrounded by fit (male only) dancers. i kinda choose my outfit while the song's playing really but whatever...i have on occasion - and this is a SECRET confession - played an 'air' instrument.
not while driving of course although i doubt it would make any difference to my driving anyway.
one morning, some colleagues arrived shortly after me and they had overtaken me on the way into work. i was of course at the O2 arena at that stage, giving it large to a 20,000 full capacity audience. when it became apparent they had seen me, probably looking my most ridiculous EVER...i was hideously embarrassed and they wound me up for daaaaaays about it 😢
it's just one of my daydreams i've had since i can remember....i do recall being lost in a rendition of something from the sound of music when i was about 5 and being in the garden. the song crescendoed and as i looked up and towards the house, there was my father waving out of the window. another time, at age 10 roughly, i was actually skipping through the woods near where we lived and singing 'the world is a circle' from south pacific (i think) and as i spun around (being a circle) i crashed into some old guy walking his dog. omg...no wonder i was beaten up at school LOL.
so does anyone else have any secrets along these lines that they can bring themselves to share?
elle!! we were BOTH madonna, lol i loved your story 🙂
i remembered another mortifying moment when i am ashamed to say i was a little older....like 18. my parents were out and i had cranked up kate bush who was my absolute hero and happened to live not far away from me (unfortunately for her cos i stalked her like crazy...copied her hair...had the same singing teacher, EEEK..she notably lives on a remote island off the coast of england now, lol).
ANYWAY...they were out and i cranked up one of her albums and anyone who knows her will know that her performances were quite balletic and bendydancingy.
well, i'm not a dancer but i was damn well giving it a go! wuthering heights. i got to the chorus where she does this plie kicky thing on the vid and whilst mid-emulation i came crashing down on my knee with unbelievable pain! i'd buggered my cartlidge and my knee was stuck in a bent position and i was pinned to the floor with pain 😢
when my father got home...and he was like a fierce army man...he picked me up, got hold of my ankle with his other hand resting on my knee and he SNAPPED it straight.
i still remember the pain. never again did i try and dance in the style of kate bush.
thing is..i hadn't wanted to make it obvious i had fallen over when i'd been dancing and so i'd dragged myself to the bottom of the stairs so that when they asked what happened, that's what i said, lol.
actually....that's a horrible story! sorry 'bout that, hhaha!
rockthenerds: that's my current ring tone!! i heard it in my car the other day and it reminded me of what a great song it is!!
midnite: that is such a cute picture!!! omg...adorable! rockin' the red, white and blue i see!!
stinger: when i was 16, i saw bob marley play at a venue in london called crystal palace. well....actually, i saw a small blob with dreads and three singing scarves who i presume were his wailers, lol. the stadium was packed and heavily scented with sensimilla...the most laid-back, happy audience i've ever been amongst.
yes...RIP robin gibb. what a year 2012's been for celebrity deaths!! whitney....donna and now robin! the last two notably of cancer too 😢
still....their music will live on forever 🙂
