About a week or so ago, I took a routine eye exam as part of my Diabetic healthcare. I had skipped the last
three years and the Ophthalmologist informed me that my eyes had dimmed to the point that I need to wear glasses
while driving.
I have a pair, my first prescription, of Shuron glasses, exactly like the "Sidewinder", above.
I've had these pair since 1987.
They are like the ones, my Grandfather wore. Also, I was and still am, since I was a small kid, a BIG fan of
Buddy Holly. I chose this pair because it reminded me of Grandfather and vaguely resembled Buddy's "Faiosa" glasses.
But I am also a BIG fan of the Beatles, again, since I was a small kid. You can take a gander of which of those ne'er do wells, I am thinking of here.
I am also a Grandfather, myself.
I love antiques and things and things of old, yet am also refined in my appreciation of modern technology,
perceiving and understanding the benefits and dangers, thereof. Yet, in spite of material knowledge and things,
I am also appreciative of matters that exist in the spiritual realms.

My demeanor is that of a much older gentleman. More Quiet and reserved, as if a man in perpetual contemplation, yet
sociable yet reserved, until inspired to speak until all have fallen sound asleep. I surely do enjoy classical
music softly playing in the background.
My artistic mind, allows me to mentally travel anywhere, transcending space and time.
Hobbies and Occupations and Interests include but not limited to:
Music, Art, Poetry, Theater, Film, Astronomy, Architectural and Mechanical Drafting, Inventing, Woodworking, Welding,
Carpentry, Masonry, Upholstery, Metalworking, Machine Shop, Diesel Mechanics, Auto Mechanics, Automotive Restoration,
Heavy Equipment (Earthmoving), Sailing, Machinery repair, Truck Driving (primary professional occupation), Forklift and Warehousing, Aviation (yes, I've flown aircraft), Railroading, Archery, Firearms, too much to list, but factual experiences and interests.
In fact, I have been described as a "Renaissance Man".

While the eye doctor said I now absolutely needed glasses to drive, which I don't think I do,
(I need em to read the small menue at the McDonald's Drive thru - lol), he also recommended a pair of
reading glasses or bifocals. Personally, I don't feel I need the bi-focal and prefer the cleaner view of
a single lens. Reading glasses can be obtained at a later time, of course.

Side note, if the pic above were a character in a story what would that story be called?
The Sheik Of Burgundy?
The Burgundy Sheik?
The Crimson Shepherd?

Is this you on the pic Mr.Firebird—

Awwww, you are nothing quite like I imagined you, but you have really beautiful soulful eyes (if eyes are the mirror of the soul, you have beautiful soul too, but we already knew this🙂

Anyways, don't ask me for an opinion, I can't even decide for myself on anything. I think either or, though my first instinct was black ones.

Thank you for your kind words, TCD. 🙂

Gold it is!
Thank you for your thoughtful LetItBe 🙂

I just came across a pic of my Grandson wearing a black round frame and big nose Halloween gag.
He was so happy when he wore that. That's My BOY! 🙂 🙂
When I saw that.... I mean.... I couldn't help but make my decision. 🙂

Everyone, named and unnamed, I sincerely thank you for each your helpful contributions to this thread.
Please know that I DO have a pair of black and will post pics when I get the gold for comparison.

Auction ends 11 hours from now. Approximately 7pm Pacific tonight.
Seller may have a reserve on it. IF the bidders in that list are serious, they are waiting to the last minute.
someone will bid high while the others bid low. The trick is to outbid that bidder. It really depends.
Anyone knowledgeable about the gold on this thing and whether it's an investment in of itself please speak up.
I do know that gold will always climb. so.... if there is a market for gold to be melt down... it may pay for itself
in 30 years... you know... nothing ventured, nothing gained as the saying goes.

The auction sold for $ 125.49. Not too shabby a win.
I chose NOT to bid on that because I need a bit more info.
One of the problems with antique frames are the optometrist stated that
there are risks involved in damaging the frames. Especially if the lenses
had been replaced several times of the course of it's use.
What they are saying is that bending metal weakens the metal and ultimately they can
break due to metal fatigue.
SO.... with that in mind, I am not at all disappointed with not placing a bid on this
specific pair, to be quite honest. AND... I can now gauge the used market value.

Cheerio, old man!

Oh... I have a photo I will be posting, Check back REAL soon.
