I'm a shy guy but I know a lot of people. Anyway, I sit next to this hot cancer girl in sociology class, and we're somewhat social with each other because we're both quiet. I can't tell if she was flirting with me the other day. I try to use humor, just get the dialogue started so you can build to a segue where you can put yourself in the front of her mind, make her consider you.

If you need practice, go to a strip club, sit at the bar and talk to all the girls. If there's no chemistry, no enthusiasm for talking, send them on their way. There's something disarming about talking to a nearly naked chick in the same way you'd try to chat up your intended fully clothed one.
