— COOLANT/Anti-Freeze

I just added antifreeze/coolant to my car (50/50).

BUT I accidentally poured the antifreeze more than an inch over the F line. o.O


Can I just leave it, or is it going to be an issue?

And if it is, what can I do to get it out (not siphon, I hope)?

Just leave it. You'll be fine. You won't harm the engine at all by over-filling it.

if anything the excess coolant will probably blow out of the cap through the pressure relief valve and spray into your engine bay. do you have a leak?

was that article written by a woman or seraph?

the radiator cap or reservoir cap are designed to open up and release excess pressure. if other components related to the cooling system break, then you already had an unforeseen problem waiting.

I had put more miles on my car than usual (with a trip up north), since my last oil change-- and I wasn't paying attention to the mileage, because it didn't feel like it was time (I know).

Since I was already under the hood to check the oil, I figured I should top off the anti-freeze.

I normally leave it to the professionals-- with good reason. 🙂
