So my next doctors appointment should be at the gun range.

Doctors:
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million)
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, —Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT almost everyone has at least one doctor.
This means you are over 900 times more likely to be killed by a doctor than a gun owner!!!
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.
We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!
Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!

Mercola released a book in 2000 titled Doctors are the Third Leading Cause of Death in the US, Causing 250,000 Deaths Every Year. So of those, unnecessary Surgery and medication errors fall into the category of a Physician at faults, or 19,000 of the 250,000
19,000 / 1,500 = 12.66
So, we're agreed that any given person in the United States is 12.66 times as likely (11.66 times more likely...pick your semantic of choice) to be accidentally killed by a physician than a firearm, correct?

Actually, I have been wanting to visit my local gun range for a while now.
I won't presume to speak for LIB, as I'm sure she is more than capable, but my interpretation of her intent was not to convey that doctors are unsafe and should be avoided. Rather, the point is that focusing on gun control as a means to make society safer is misdirected given that such an effort only addresses a limited subset of the population and one that is already extraordinarily safe by all generally accepted statistical measures.
