If I did not have the career I have, I swear I would have done this for a living!!

@ Cowpuncher...I am loving the hell out of this. It's like the glass mosaic art I do, but outdoors with stone (heavy ass stone that is...thank God for my son's help) I'm 3/4 done with patio..Firepit/fireplace floor is in, am building that up after patio is complete. Should be done by this coming weekend. Dug down 4" got a load of 2.5 tons of #1A stone. The actual base of that stone is 3.5 inches enough to work with. No more mossy, mucky area!!

Best part...about a mile away, an excavator has been dumping stone from a site he cleared and piling it all up. Some beautiful and colorful stones too. Total cost: $ 50.00 (for the 1-A stone).

I am extremely proud of this project! Especially not having to pay a contractor to do it.

I see some warm steamy nights ahead.... 😄

Ok...so here's a pic. Please note..the pebble is NOT swept and packed yet...so it looks messy.

This is sunset right after the rain...don't have the best camera. I left the fire pit part and remaining unfinished patio out. Next pic will be completion of it all.

(top right part of pic is the one corner of firepit/place floor and some big tough rock not yet installed for the walls)

Congrats! GREAT find on that stone too!

Every time you snag a load of stone, lift those heavy rocks, swipe that trowel.... $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ .

If I could get my hands on good stone cheap, I'd almost crack the whip after the fire pit and patio, and do that wood fired stone hot tub if at all possible. Top notch materials, cheap, practically in your back yard? That's a sign from the heavens right there, madam.

Looking forward to those pics!

Unfortunately, you can't see the greens, purple's and maroons in these rocks. Hell, there's two pieces that are almost 3.5 wide x 3 feet!! It looks like all of these colors blocked into one stone. One is at the foot of steps from deck and the other (a round one same size) is on the other unfinished side. Picture doesn't do justice 😢

ya know... maybe if you could get a pic of it at noon, with the sun directly overhead... the colors would show up more vividly?

It's cloudy and rained again..if it breaks, good idea. I will do that. 🙂 I am humbled you like it. Yea...that fake crap (stone)..not for me. It's gotta be all natural to go with the terrain.

Good news is no dust from the 1-A stone today from it being wet. Don't like wearing those little masks. So I'm gonna get in as much as I can today. Best for last is the fire pit..I have some nice curvy stone to work the edges however, I'm gonna have to do a lot more chipping.

Ok...so no sun. Lots of wind overcast and chill out there today. But..here's some closeups of a couple of rocks and the firepit/place floor. (big chunks of rock laying next to firepit is what will be used for walls...little pieces of rock on firepit floor are from rocks I chipped for patio. I'll use those as fillers. Here's the colors I talked about..

Glad you guys like it! 🙂 I'm addicted to this project! lol 🙂

No more pics until it's complete!!

I'm currently waiting for 4 huge rocks I hand picked to top this fire pit. We have to load them onto my neighbor's backhoe bucket to bring them over. One rock will go on each side and two on the back. Rain has been holding me up, worked in between rain drops this past weekend. 😢
I put my sig in little rocks..lol The black writing on bottom right (had to resize pic) says "yes, this is a heart rock". My center piece!
