Posted by hades_moonThat's what I've been hearing from people. That it's slowly becoming more popular, but for now it's still better than Bali or Thailand.
If you can, I suggest avoiding Manila. The city was too overpopulated, polluted, and had congested traffic nearly 24/7. During the summer I visited Coron. It's becoming more tourist-oriented, but not as much as Boracay. There are also a lot of activities and packages that they offer, where you can island hop, snorkel with the fish, etc. You can find and connect with nature. Such a majestic place, wishing to go back before too much human / tourist activity ruins the magic.

Posted by MIIeFiskI heard siargao is even good by non surfers. Apparently really quiet beaches for just bumming around!
Siargao, if you surf. Bohol offer some gorgeous beaches too and there are other activities and landmarks other than the beach.

Certain places also provide an all-inclusive tour package, where one tour is nature-oriented and another for beach / tanning (hopping between multiple white sand beaches).Posted by hades_moonThat's what I've been hearing from people. Snorkelling and island hopping sounds like a dream. I've seen some good accommodation prices too for really beautiful looking places!!

Posted by sagsagsagWhat do you love about el nido, palawan specifically?!
Manila: just a big city quite similar to mine with less traffic, nothing really interesting here..
Davao: almost the same. I was a bit pissed when I went there, wanted to wander around at 10PM and the concierge stopped us, because we were a girls squad with no men.. and said the city is not quiet safe for women to wander around without any men above 10 PM ?
Went to paradise island, it was alright...
El nido, palawan: I LOVE IT! you should go here straight instead of visiting the cities... On a scale of 1- 10 this place hits 9 in my travel book..
The one that hits the perfect score of 10 for me is always Raja Ampat, papua.. Damn...If only it's easier to reach like Bali... it was really really magical ?

Posted by hades_moonYeah I've thought of that. I think we'll relocate after a while. I don't see us staying in one place the entire time!!Posted by clippityclopThat's awesome. We stayed in Coron for 3 days, though a day or two more would've been perfect. If you end up going for two weeks, consider a detour to El Nido as well. (In case you might get bored since Coron is not a fully developed tourist location / doesn't have much forms of entertainment.)Posted by hades_moonPosted by clippityclopYes. They both sound great. Maybe will even do both. I think we're planning on going for two weeks.

Any favorite places? Any good stories?
What did you do there?
Am thinking of going away somewhere soon..originally thought Bali. But everyone says its very touristy and that the Philippines is similar but without all the tourist stuff.
Thoughts?
