A Small Crush and a Tiny Disappointment

I was minding my own business, dancing with a good friend of mine. Yes, we crashed a party but we didn't mind. Her Malibu & Orange and my Stella were a welcomed change from the "Incense and Peppermint" Lovefest (Benefit Concert that was JUST PLAIN AWFUL) next door. Boredome and exhaustion drove us into the upstairs lounge of the Bar next door. We made our own party.

For a few songs we sucked all the air out of the room. And all was well with the room.

The Benefit Concert and our Responsibility to Social Reform was calling...but then again, so was Salsa Dancing. So Salsa won out over acoustic guitar and powerpoint presentations.

So 3 hours, 2 mojitos and a Fallen-Updo later my friend and I headed in the direction of home. On the corner a man (a handsome man) spoke to us: "You guys walked all the way over here from 'Wonderland'?"

I, being the "Notorious W.I.T." of the duo, smiled a sweet smile and hit him back with, "We can ask the same of you." We had gone for Salsa. He had walked the 7 blocks for a Jumbo Slice of Pizza.

On the walk back to the Bar (we had been convinced, rather I had), I learned that he was a September 2nd Virgo to my November 9th Scorpio. Every man whose made my heart go Pitter-Pat has been a Virgo! "I'm in Heaven!" I think to myself.

My friend and I, along with my new Virgo Pal enter the Bar after having walked, talked, laughed. An Amazing Host, MrVirgo bought us beers and allowed my friend to enjoy the state of "too much to drink" while we chatted away.

MrV: You know that's based off a really beautiful jazz piece.
LB😱 By whom? I'd love to find it.
MrV: ?Mystic Brew? by Ronnie Foster.
LB😱 Okay I'm writing this down. So what's your number? Just in-case I have to call you and scream you out for being wrong!
MrV: I know you're hoping I'm wrong so you can call me.
LB😱 Maybe. And from my experience with Virgos, you guys tend to be right. *raising my class* Here's to you being right.
MrV: *raising his own glass* Here's to my being wrong.

Several giggles, bets and tons of compliments about my Sweated-Out Hair, my skin (a well-made face after a great night of Salsa tends to glow a bit...and not in a radioactive way) and my smile later MrVirgo drove my friend home. He didn't want her walking home on 2 sore feet.

It was almost 3AM and MrVirgo and I were headed back down the hill. I was next on the drop-off list. We parked outside my building and talked a bit more.

LB😱 Okay?now tell me: are you single, dating, married?
MrV: I'm all of the above.
LB😱 Yikes! What's that mean?
MrV: I'm just attracted to positive energy.
LB😱 I just want to make sure if I text you or call you I won't be stepping on anyone else's toes.
MrV: You can do all of that whenever you like.

MrVirgo took me to get a hot dog?which was strange because the 7-11 is on the corner (less than 50 meters from my building). He waited outside the store (?It's not going out of my way to take you to get a hot dog. You asking me to cook the hot dog would be going out of my way.?) and then drove me the 50 meters home. Turns out he was right about the song. I sent him a text thanking him for the tip and for the excellent company.

MrV: ?It was my pleasure.

Well, we ended up inviting each other to lunch. A great lunch. A ?we have so much in-common it's crazy? lunch. A lunch that ended with 2 of the most soulful hugs I've received in a long time and was sealed with 2 amazing kisses. Hugs and kisses that stayed with me for days.

So we played text-message-tag a few times and left each other with great vibes?which was the point. Good vibes. But there was some distance?which is normal I suppose. So, I initiated the game of tag.

LB😱 You crossed my mind. Just thought you should know.
MrV: You crossed mine too. Think ur great?2 great but I am working on my home life. When you asked if I had someone at home and said all of the above was true.
MrV: Didn't think I would have so much fun with you last week.
MrV: But I did
LB😱 Oooh! Conflict. I understand that conflict very well.
MrV: Uh?yeah
LB😱 ?
MrV: As in ?thanks?
LB😱 For?
MrV: Understanding such conflict
LB😱 Lauryn Hill best described my own conflict. ?Obligated to obey the demands of bad decisions.? Not saying that's the case with you. I just get the conflict.
MrV: Nicely put

MrV: LOL! Not at all.

So, that's the end of my little story. What was exactly the point of it? Ah hell, I don't know. I guess I wanted to share a little bit of myself?with this being my first post and all. I wanted to smile at all you VirGuys who succeed everyday in making a Scorpio Woman lose her bearings or forget herself. But mainly, I wanted to get it all out.

I feel a lot better now?disappointed, but better.

Very entertaining .. however, a story.

You two met him on a corner, where he walked 7 blocks for a slice of pizza, and then walked with the two of you to a bar, where you and him had a nice chat ..... then suddenly, his car appears out-of-thin-air and he drives your friend home, and you for a hot-dog.


You have the ability to enthral your audience with page turning attention .. very good ..

My only suggestion, as a writer myself, next time .... edit before publishing. Viewing audiences can detect inconsistencies within the scenes that drive the plot.

Not a story. Just a little narrative instead of an "OMG! WHAT DO I DO NEXT—!!!" post. How do I explain the coincidence of meeting him on the street corner where HE spotted ME? Do I begin to explain my belief in fate? Do I dare allow that to cloud my focus on "just living" and not obsessing over the events? Do I mention how he lives across the street from the bar we revisited (the upstairs portion...birthday party crashed)?

Nothing's inconsistent. I just choose to leave some things out. I do like my privacy. I wish I could make this up. I wish I couldn't be this disappointed.
