Uh, I am assuming this is .ore of a character flaw. However, I will ask anyways. Do Virgos have the tendency to not own up to their mistakes? Blame another when it is blatantly obvious that it is their fault?

One of the biggest misunderstandings other signs seem to have with Virgos is that they don't recognize the inner critic. If you think that what a Virgo just told you was cold or harsh, you wouldn't survive what we can tell ourselves on a daily basis. If you think you're tough, we're tougher. If you think a Virgo is emotionless or not reacting appropriately on the surface, it's because we've become desensitized to anything that you can throw at us. If you think you can hit hard, it's a sure bet that we can hit harder. There is nothing horrible that someone can say about me to me that hurts anymore because I've already said it to myself a thousand times, and probably in the last half hour. Consider it nothing less than a divine mercy that you don't have to live inside a Virgo's head because that drive for perfection that we're so well known for... it's absolutely maddening. We can be some of the most emotionally masochistic people on the planet.

Cancers like to think that they have some kind of monopoly on emotions because they're so damn sensitive. The only difference between what a Cancer regurgitates as "feelings" all over the place and what happens beneath a Virgo's exterior shell is that eventually the Virgo learns and moves on instead of continuing to bleed it out until treetrunking eternity.

And yes, the Vulcan is feeling grumpy today. Butter happens.

I was about to take my shower but your question was stuck in my head that I just have to throw my POV.
Every Virgo is different and that is a fact. I would personally take the blame and own the mistake if it is really my fault. The more evolve Virgo will surely do that and before others point out the mistake I've already find the solution to it. The thing of not owning the mistake is when we realize that the mistake was in the first place not our creation coz I can analyze and dig deep into the issue and found out that the mistake was made by others only that it was place on my yard so someone expect us to own it but in reality I never created that and that's the time I will never take full responsibility of that.
I have the mind that can analyze things and find the true root cause of the issue/mistake and if that's not me, why take the blame? It's futile I won't waste my time on that.
I personally if I made mistake I would carry it for as long as I know but fortunately I know how to unload my stuff and move on but I will surely beat my self hard thinking of that mistake, a Virgo mind does not forget easily and I might beat myself over and over again upon remembering it which is hard and others will surely not see it. Your Virgo might be beating himself but unfortunately you're not capable of seeing it and you only see the irresponsible mask because you might be expecting something from him he's not showing you.
Remember: Virgo lives in the mind.
