The Virgo Consensus : Communication

Being a second decan with Capricorn rising, I have always known that I don't like to talk. It is in my nature to listen, observe and comment on what other people are saying.

For me to lead a conversation it usually must have a point or direction. I'm not good at just having "casual conversation". My version of casual conversation is asking a whole lot of questions to the other person and commenting on what they say.

I believe it is just a second decan thing as I noticed 1st Decans and 3rd Decans have no problems striking up conversation and carrying it well.

Am I mistaken?
How do you guys conduct "casual conversation"?

I dislike casual conversations becuase it leads to nowhere and most people who talk to me casually are nothing more than mouth breathers who are usually asking for something in return.

Yeah, people realise early on that Virgos are the "GO TO" people when it comes to getting things done.

Being a first decan with aqua, i give more than casual conversation i give conversations with me mostly talking while others are listening, but my topics are always beyond the level of many people becuase everyone refrains from deep meaning and much rather allow things to remain superficial.

Yes, exactly. People don't talk to me because my interests are not superficial. I always want to go in depth and they are simply "not interested".

Superficial conversation is such a waste...

Yet, i will not be a hyprocrite for i do always end up in casual conversations and every time it is always with a grudge for i hate pointless topics such as, "Hey, i like your jacket..." or "How you been...OH yeah, thats great....".

All of my conversation is short lived and to the point. I gets straight to the business off the bat.
Sure now and then, I'll butter you up with the "Hi, how are yous" but that doesn't last long.

Most of time I enjoy simply just listening. But sometimes I find myself blabbering more than needed. Though after realizing it I'll just crawl back into silence. Friends may ask me, "whats the matter?" because I tend to stare off into space, looking lonely after quieting down. But thats not the case most of the time. I'm in my head, in my own little home theatre listening for bits of interesting information to pull and set aside.

Haha, I remember some of the times when I would start blabbering all loud and then suddenly quiet down when it hit me.
Quite uncomfortable 😛

I enjoy both meaningful and casual conversations. People give off information about themselves without realizing it all the time. Helps me figure out stuff about them without bringing anything up. 🙂

I can't recall ever striking one up. Hehehe. Nearly every friend of mine can talk endlessly. I do have a Virgo/Libra Cusp buddy who I find reverts to silence a few times but nowhere near as much as I do. I usually just chip in a penny or two or three here and there.

Well well, looks like you are the closest young Virgo in being similar to me 🙂

I keep friends who talk, makes life easier for me.

Virgo friends of my same decan are hard to keep, our conversations are short and we often have long periods of no communication. Then when enough has "built up" we just let it all offload concisely and enthusiastically. haha

first decan here august 29 i think superficial convo are good at times when things are going well u also get to see were a person head is at and where u stand wit them dat can determine if u still wanna talk to tha person in tha long run.


now do i think light hearted covo is good when times are bad hell no unless ur trying to help and cheer tha person up.

Depends.
I've been surprised at how much I learn through casual chatter; but, I've also been bored to tears.

That's what I expected to hear 🙂

It's just for me, whenever I start talking it's always straight to business. No lingering.
I realised when I hit 18 that most of my conversational skills were geared towards ending a conversation.

I've been feeling like that for a while now. I have this sagittarius friend who loves talking about random stuff more than any other friend I know. Awesome friend. Just doesn't like shutting up.

That's why they make such good friends for Virgos.
They talk and give funny stories, which we get to comment on and analyse.

Then we hit them our analysis and they retort back. So there's lots of effort to understand and lots of comedy.

And yes, they often go on for too long but it's worth it.

I think communication is vital as human beings...... people have a tendency to think that communication is verbal only, but the fact is that something like 85% of our communication comes from non-verbal expressions. Body language is much more telling of the person than the actual conversation that you are having.

When I'm talking with someone, I might not always be staring into their eyes.... I'm watching them and I'm watching to see how they react to questions that I pose. I almost always ask questions about family, to see how their body's reaction is. Are they uncomfortable about talking about their family?? This could mean a potential problem. Are they excited— What is it then— It can really reveal a person's true motives....

Next time you're out in public, watch people and pick up on the underlying communication that's going on. It's actually really interesting to see how we interact with each other......

I prefer verbal. It's quotable and stands up in court.

As an individual that loves deep conversations, I love verbal too. But whether you acknowledge it or not, you are receptive to non-verbal communication. Case in point, the clothes that people wear. That is very revealing as to how they are as a person. Are they showing too much cleavage. Does he match his colors— Also maintenance.... smells, make-up, hygiene, hair cuts............ as humans, we rely on our sight to decode what our environment is around us. This is the reason why nightly news went into 24/7 networks. Why newspapers started included pictures with short descriptions. Why we have billboards and tv ads. Why we have cellphones that takes pictures and video.... why YouTube exists.

We are a visual civilization. It's part of evolution, so why not use it to your benefit.

I think verbal communication is misleading, because people lie. People's reaction and their body language can't and don't lie.

On a personal note, it seems like that you have trust issues and that has caused you to be "matter-of-factly". It's just an observation, and I could be totally wrong about it.

Huh——

well.... the way that you think out your words. They are straight to the point and matter of factly. And it comes across as genuine, like you actually mean what you say, like you have placed yourself in that other person's shoes, and then you will give your answer. This is just an observation from your posts. To me, there is a reason behind you being genuine. It's either because someone lied and betrayed you in some way, and out of principal you take this stance because you know how it feels like, or perhaps you are the master of disguise an are a very good bullshitter.

Yes, aries are like this......... My mom will always say that growing up, even though I was a bit rebellious, I never lied. Of course I told white lies, but I never lied to her about where I was going, what I was doing, who I was with, etc. Because of this, she knew that I wasn't causing trouble. I was just rebellious, but I wasn't a trouble maker.

We are products of our environments. Our personally developed perception is based on our personal experiences. While being truthful and genuine is an aries trait, the reality is I'm like this because I have dealt with some devastating betrayals by those who were suppose to be trustworthy.

Bingo... Funny thing is, it was a similar deduction like that, that my Aries ex made. Which made me want to be with her.
We both valued our love for truthfulness.

I was raised very strongly as Roman Catholic.
I have not had to deal with betrayals, Thank God.

No sympathies needed.... another aries female trait... she is not a victim. You live and learn. I'm very spiritual, and I have made the choice to not allow negative experiences affect my positivity. I can remain agry about it, and stay stuck, or I can elevate myself above it and move on. Aries are never one to stay stuck. and if they are, it's because it a huge load that we're dealing with. People see it as a strength of mine, but it's something that occurs naturally for me. I work myself through my dark moments, staying focused on what will get me through, visualizing the weight being lifted off my plate. My fear is that I've become too independent for my own good. My battles are hard won, so I do not take my lessons for granted.

I apologize for jumping to conclusions....... It's a very good quality that you behold. Just don't let anyone take advantage of it, no matter how much you care for that person. Sometimes seeing things from a higher point-of-view means that you can't see the shit that you're about to step in......

It's inevitable being taken advantage of.
I just learn how to gauge it over time and experience.

it's cute that you think that.

i've been studying body language for a long time now.

i'm a very good liar. i don't like to lie, because you have to remember a lie. usually its just not worth the effort. but if i have to lie, i can. and i'll make you believe me. body language and all. i know every trick.

i'd totally be caught by a lie detector. i know for a fact that my pulse races. a body language expert could tell. but the average person cannot.

sociopaths can lie too. and they can't even get caught by a lie detector. that's how they get away with the things they do. they're just so convincing.

Yes, body language is a huge factor in fact there are three ways you can note whether who is lying or not.

If you'd like too know just simply ask.

A couple of things that I've studied on body language and lying (if I recall correctly), is that generally when someone is speaking an untruth, they will tend to look towards the left as they are speaking the lie, their body will also not be squared with yours as they will tend to turn more away from you, they are more closed off (taking up less space) and tend to gesture more towards themselves, they may place things between you (a pillow, a book on the table, etc), they won't want to make eye contact or if they are over-compensating they will stare you in the eyes as though they are trying to convince you of something. Those are the only ones I remember.

An interesting analysis. Scorpios are naturally talented at this.
I think the "gut feeling" accounts for more than physical observations though.

There are some people that you just can't read, no matter how hard you try, and intuition plays a big role in helping to identify what your "vision" may not be picking up.

Haha, how good are you at reading Virgos?

I remember my Scorpio exes having difficulty. So much so, they would start random accusations lol

LOL - Obviously my virgo intuition is not so good, otherwise I wouldn't have been seeking out websites online to try to understand my virgo friend better. Damn virgos. Thorn in my side you all are, but I'm thankful for that as it makes life interesting. There's enough mystery in the virgo to keep me coming back for more. 😉
