Virgos and disappointment

The virgo I'm dating gets disappointed easily. He is a loner and only has a couple of close friends. Yesterday he was supposed to go kayaking and the friend canceled on him. He is very outdoorsy and when he is off from work he wants to get out and do stuff and when he doesn't he gets rather cranky. So I texted him yesterday morning and then again around noon to see how it was going. He didn't return either text..He finally called around 5 and was very quiet on the phone and told me the friend canceled. He called again later in the evening..said he wasn't very talkative and was bored. He gets bored very easily when he is off work. He seems to get depressed.

Is disappointment hard on Virgos? Would this be typical behavior? I can understand disappointment, but when he is so quiet it is hard for me to distinguish if it is because of me or if there are other things going on...
He has a way of making me feel like he couldn't care less about me when he is cold like this...

Terribly so.

Yes, very much.
If I plan in advanced, anything... then my expectations are established and typically set high if I am really looking forward to it.
To cancel on me last minute is a grave disrespect and a thorough disappointment.

I can understand disappointment, but when he is so quiet it is hard for me to distinguish if it is because of me or if there are other things going on...

If it is because of you, he will tell you or act irritable towards you.

He has a way of making me feel like he couldn't care less about me when he is cold like this...

Yeah, all emotions get turned off when we're disappointed.
It's just our way of not delving deeper into a perilous pit of horrible feelings.
