It could have just been the one I was with (of course it would be wrong to generalize right?) but he was waaaay to possessive and insecure. We lasted a year and then I was done. But we are still great friends though.

Oh absolutely. Once an Aqua FINALLY lets you in (ALL the way in), it's like they become a different person & have all the love in the world to give!
Actually no, it's not that they become different people. They don't grow those extra traits over night. They were always like that inside; they always had lots of love/loyalty to give. It's just that they take very seriously who actually gets the chance to see that side of them.
Who we appear to be in the beginning & middle vs. what we show you once we let you all the way in are 2 competely different things. And even though others don't like this, the ones who actually were patient & stuck it through with us, are so happy they did!
Aquas are awesome =) We won't leave you in disappointment.....IF you are patient & stick it through with us

You are right on the dot with that one, my friend. If it wasn't for my ex falling in love with me within 2 months of dating, which scared me and made me push him away all the more, we'd probably work out. Had he focused more on the developing the friendship aspect than romance, I would've fallen in love too. Two things aquas need to make it work are: intellect and friendship from their partner.
