We all have phobias. I have two.

1st: I won't go down escalators. I can go up escalators, but I won't go down. I'll take the elevator or the stairs. This has to do with me having a fear of open heights. Enclosed heights I'm OK with.

2nd: I will not get into an elevator with more than 3 other people. If there are more than 4 of us in the elevator, then I will take the next elevator. I usually wait to let others in first, so if there are more than 4 riding in it, I'll pass it up. It has to be with me being claustrophobic.

I have other phobias too...I don't have a phobia of heights, I just have a phobia of losing my balance or falling from a height 😛. In other words, I can go really high up and not feel a twinge of fear as long as I am not balancing on a pole or something, but otherwise I get terrified. And I also have a phobia relating to claustrophobia of long, dark tunnels. I did not know this until I went through one in NYC 😛.

Man, I just realized something else I'm scared of. It's amazing I don't confine myself to my home!

*There are a few tall bridges here because of the ships and barges that come through the ship channel as well as the causeway bridge connecting Galveston with the mainland. Well, whenever I cross over one of these high bridges, I roll down my window. It sounds silly, but I figure if the bridge is going to collapse, at least my windows are rolled down before it hits the water - since they're electric and not manual.*

Hmm, irrational fears...I don't really have that many..there's not much that really scares me..in the physical realm at least..I am really terrified of being in a house fire..I think it's because of a memory I have from my childhood of going into this house that had been through a fire...I can still see the remnants of the family's belongings in my mind (like children's toys, pictures..) lying about, burnt and buried in debris. I also have a huge fear of swimming in large bodies of water when I can't see what's around me, because you never know what could be lurking in the murky waters below...da da, da da (Jaws theme).. (which is somewhat strange because I grew up swimming in teh pond behind my house).

im terrified of small, winding staircases. I remeber i went to Florence with my ex-partner and he managed to convince me to go into the big Basillica there. Ohmygod..i was on the brink of having a heart attack. It was the worst experience of my life..i cried for the rest of the day nearly. Im also scared of churches..i dont like anything to do with crucifixes..i dont know why??
