I have been offered this great job in atlanta with awesome benefits and closer to home. Thats the reason I was looking for a new job to be closer to home with the way gas is rising and rising.

Anyway I like the job I have now. The people really depend on me and make me feel important. So its going to be so hard to give them 2 weeks notice.

So what would you do? I know I can only do whats best for me and my family. My gem tells me I need to get something closer because I am driving 2 hours a day to get back and forth to work. It will only take me 15 minutes to get to my new job.

Im confused please help 😢

Take the new job!!!!

It seems from what you are describing that pretty much everything at the new job will work better for you. You need to take care of you first and foremost. This is often said, but not always acted upon. Act upon it.

As for your current work situation, it can be really hard to leave people behind people who really appreciate you and what you do. There is no doubt about that. Hopefully, the new folks come to appreciate you as much as this current group. And if they don't, well, you have another notch in Ye Olde resume belt, and you can use that to move on if you have to.

You have to "strike when the metal is hot." Go, go, go, get 'em!!!!!

Take the new job, and have faith in your ability to make new connections in this world.

My biggest fear is losing the great team feeling I have in any of the teams I have been in. But too often I have found myself better off in new environments, though I don't make regrets, I do wonder at times why I didn't move on and upward sooner.

Case in point, the current AMAZING job I have now, was available for 2 years at the same place, but only now I have synced up with knowing it was there, and that I was available.

You will miss your current team, but they will cheer you on and understand your reasons!

GOOD LUCK with your decision, this is a great time to come into your own, whether you are an Aries with a job to hold onto, or an Aries like my friend who lost his job this Monday.

All the best D!

I am confused as to why you are confused :S

I think you have forgotten it's a job at the end of the day and in the business sense, even your current colleagues should encourage you to take the new role:

1. More money, not just with the new package but with savings in time and fuel.
2. Time saved can be put to more productive use and catching up with things you never have time to do, spending time with loved ones, etc. Not to talk of the tiredness associated with such long driving (and saving the environment!)
3. You are not thinking career progression: if you take the new package with higher benefits/package, this enables you negotiate an even bigger benefit package (hopefully) in your next role.
4. If your current role was unavailable for any reason and they couldn't afford you anymore, you will be dumped like a sack of hot potatoes. That's how it works

The people really depend on me and make me feel important ---> with all the time saved with the new job, you can do some charity/volunteer work --- same feeling to satisfy the Aries 'Joan of Arc tendencies 🙂

You will also have time to hang out with the friends you made at your old place.
