Just curious if there are any astro trends in terms of pain tolerance levels? Are there any signs in particular that are notorious pansies or vikings?

* Braces body for flurry of maternal rants relating to birth * ;D

I think mine is rather high compared to the average Joe. It's definitely a mental thing for me. My psychological controls a large % of my physiological reactions (another aspect that is perhaps astro sign related?). All in all, I think I handle pain pain like a champ. In fact, there's times where I find pain quite invigorating. Don't get me wrong, I'm not into S&M (lol), but I'm a bit of a pugilist so I don't receive it as all bad either. One type of pain that I would say that I particularly detest would have to be a steam burn. Cooking is one of my biggest passions and as a result I have had a few kitchen accidents. I must admit, a good steam burn really fucks my day up.

I'd be quite interested in hearing any of your responses on this matter, but something tells me that my speculation on this subject may be less than intriguing for many of you. Hope I'm wrong!

- Z 🙂

I have a very high pain threshhold, though luckily i suppose i havnt ever been pushed to the limit as have never had any seriously painful things happen to me, and ive never given birth, but when i do i intend to do it naturally, and with no drugs. Strangely though toothache is one pain that i just cant deal with. I could take a punch in the face like a trooper but give me a toothache and i'll cry like a baby if i havnt got some pain killers lol.

I think a person's ability to tolerate pain more than others isn't really a "zodiac" thing. I think it has more to do with what a person has gone through in life, genetic make up & other things outside of astrology.

As an Aqua, I have a very high pain tolerance BUT yet 1 of my best friends, whose ALSO an Aqua has a very LOW pain tolerance.

I think pain tolerance has more to do with genetics. (Example), my mother is annemic so she has a very LOW pain tolerance just like she also tends to get cold quicker than others in the same room do.

And for those who've been through extreme experiences with pain, they're also more likely to have higher pain tolerances than persay someone whose never even had a broken bone before. I have 8 tattooes so I guess one could say that I have an extremely HIGH pain tolerance (obviously). Plus, there are also the people who associate emotional psychology with high/low pain tolerances. Studies show that people who go through an enormous amount of mental turmoil in their lives are 2Xs more likely to have HIGH pain tolerances.

I have heard red-heads and/or green-eyed peeps feel pain more !

from wiki..
"Two studies have demonstrated that people with red hair have different sensitivity to pain compared to people with other hair colors. One study found that people with red hair are more sensitive to thermal pain (associated with naturally occurring low vitamin K levels),[32] while another study concluded that redheads are less sensitive to pain from multiple modalities, including noxious stimuli such as electrically induced pain.[33][34][35]

Researchers have found that people with red hair require greater amounts of anesthetic.[36] Other research publications have concluded that women with naturally red hair require less of the painkiller pentazocine than do either women of other hair colors or men of any hair color. A study showed women with red hair had a greater analgesic response to that particular pain medication than men.[37] A follow-up study by the same group showed that men and women with red hair had a greater analgesic response to morphine-6-glucuronide.[35]"

I'm SO weird when it comes to what I actually consider REAL pain!

I'd prefer to sit & get a tattoo for an hours vs. getting a tetna shot!!! It's those small pricks or pinches that drive me INSANEEEEEEEE! I'm sure it's just a mental thing though.

1 thing I CANNOT deal with is a HEADACHE/MIGRAINE! I can deal with a cold, the flu, a broken bone, a tattoo...ANYTHING other than a Migraine headache! I NEVER get them but oh boy when I finally do, it's like all hell breaks loose. My body literally/physically shuts down; I'll lose some of my eyesight & even oh man talk about mood swings! I'm more prone to having a high pain tolerance when I hurt/break something often. It's the kind of pain (cough: headaches) that rarely come that I can't deal with!

i was forced to go through natural child birth because i arrived at the hospital with only 20 minutes to spare. it was only bad trying to dilate the last few centimeters. when i got to push through the contractions i felt a lot better and the pain instantly vanished after he was out. it had nothing to do with being tired. i think i progressed too fast to actually become tired enough.

anyway, i'm a leo and i prefer not to be hurt if possible but i will engage in activities such as martial arts where getting hurt is almost a guarantee. my threshold is weird. i can endure extreme pain without being a pansy but a canker sore, or any oral pain for that matter, can make me miserable. i think the pain is too close to the brain.

LOL I was thinking an extended foot or a friendly lil' push, but I am always a helpful creature.

All this pain chatter has got me in the mood for a plummet down a staircase. An old hobby of mine that I've neglected making time for in recent days.

Hope I still have the magic touch!

*crosses fingers*

For maximum impact may I suggest plummeting backwards, preferably whilst holding a large and heavy object (like a TV).

A friendly push would be fantastic. Backwards isn't a bad idea. I usually just take a good runner. Stone cases or spirals do me just right. I really haven't thought of holding a heavy object. That's pretty genius. For real though, everyone should absolutely take a legitimate stair plunge at least ONCE. It's absurdly satisfying.
