We're NOT the sign we thought we were

I'm sure you guys have heard about "Ophiuchus," right? Well according to new data produced by the National Center of Astrololgy, none of us might be the sign we thought we were.

According to the new data, here is the chart that explains what your REAL sign is:

ARIES = APRIL 19 - MAY 13
TAURUS = MAY 14 - JUNE 19
GEMINI = JUNE 20 - JULY 20
CANCER = JULY 21 - AUG 9
LEO = AUGUST 10 - SEPTEMBER 15
VIRGO = SEPTEMBER 16 - OCTOBER 30
LIBRA = OCTOBER 31 - NOVEMBER 22
SCORPIO = NOVEMBER 23 - NOVEMBER 29
OPHIUCHUS = NOVEMBER 30 - DECEMBER 17
SAGITTARIUS = DECEMBER 18 - JANUARY 18
CAPRICORN = JANUARY 19 - FEBRUARY 15
AQUARIUS = FEBRUARY 16 - MARCH 11
PISCES = MARCH 12 - APRIL 18

Of course people are debating this, but here's the funny thing, astrologers aren't! They've known about ophiuchus since 130 B.C.

What's crazy is that they also claim that even though your sign may be different, it's still possible that you will act & exhibit personality traits of the sign you originally were. Now THIS is what I debate with! According to the original Zodiac, I am an Aquarius but according to this new (well actually old) data I am really a Capricorn! And if astrology dictates a piece/part of one's personality, how is it that I STILL fit the Aquarian description to a T, vs. the Capricorn description/traits? Hmmm

What do you guys think about this?

We've known about this for quite some time .... I guess since you live under a rock, you just automatically assumed everyone did.

This knowledge HAS been around for thousands of years... I agree totally, it's all pretty moot - you are who you are, no matter..

..The general night-sky, (via astronomy) has never followed the actual signs, traits & "symbolisms" of astrology as we know it. At the very least, common sense and departure from a very misguided media mentality says you can't change your personality overnight. Kind of like some fringe scientist changing your blood-type because he writes a book and tells you so, so it must be true. Your chart is a picture of the sky taken the MOMENT you are born from the PLACE you are born. You will live and die by the chart you were "born" with.

Basically, the stars are markers that drift, but our main points of reference are not directly "related" to the stars. They are the Equinoxes (both spring and vernal) and the Solstices which altogether make the Four Cardinal Points of the zodiac which in turn determine the signs. The stars help us "locate" those points which define the SIGNS of the Zodiac which remain "constant" in relation to the equinox point. The CONSTELLATIONS do move about and we take that into consideration when locating planets.

Susan Miller from Astrologyzone.com tells ABC news, "We have studied this as an astrological community and we have made a consensus that when we go back to the old formulas and the old algorithms, they work. It's unlikely the astrology community is going to accept what an "astronomer" is trying to put on them."

Some further points that discredit this ??13th sign?? claim:

1. Astrology and astronomy are two distinctly different subjects.

2. This —new planet?? finding does NOT apply to Western astrology. The Tropical zodiac, the system used by most Western astrologers, is based on signs of the zodiac, not the constellations.

3. Astrological symbolism relates to the planets, not the stars.

4. The SEASONS are the reference points, not the constellations. Planetary positions are measured in celestial longitude from 0?? Aries, which is the point of the Vernal Equinox.

5. The four cardinal points are divided equally into the 12 signs of the Tropical zodiac, a division of the 360-degree wheel of the year into 12 equal slices of 30 degrees. There are no —extra?? signs.

6. The positions of the planets are measured by the sign??s they are in.

For the 1st time, I re-quoted myself! I def. JUST SAID that alot of people have known about this for a long time. Quote me where I said that you guys on this site didn't know (Waiting). I'm pretty sure alot of you know

However, they were talking about this on CNN & actully the astrologers were surprised at how many people 1. Didn't even know about Orphicus & 2. Had no idea about what you guys are claiming you knew about. They took a poll on the CNN.com website & out of the 100,000 people polled, only 36% actually knew about any of this. With that being said, I wouldn't entirely be surprised if quite a few of the people on this site didn't know about this
