Dealing with difficult co-workers?

How do you fellow cancers deal with difficult co-workers? Right now I'm taking part in a task force at work that involves six other people. We've been working together for about a month now, and over the past few weeks I've felt alienated from the rest of the group. I feel that everyone in the group is passionate and hard workers, but they all have strong personalities and can be pretty bossy. I'm pretty introverted so I tend to shy away when they get into heated discussions. I think this has made me appear as the weak link in the group, and I'm trying to figure out how to fix things. There have be instances where I have tried to throw out an idea only to be interrupted or told my ideas were bad. When this happens I retreat into shell and don't say much else. Any advice on how to deal with these people or what I can do better? We're supposed to have a meeting this afternoon.

Also not sure if it matters but the zodiac signs of the other people in the group are libra, pisces, scorpio, two leos, and capricorn. They all seem to get along great together, so any advice on how to work with any of these signs is appreciated! 🙂

How about try to be more assertive and stop being a door Nat. We test but forget others are testing/underestimating us.

Yes I know I need to be more assertive, but I've never been good at that. There is one group member in particular that I know will bite my head off if I try to challenge her in the group. I hate conflict and try to avoid it.

My advise to you is to do your job and learn the art of persuasion since everyone hate being confronted so by learning the art of persuasion, you will learn to express disagreement in the most agreeable way.

Now, don't take my "do your job" comment personal, ok? What I meant by "do your job" is to focus on delivering good products. Less talking usually deliver the best product, a good manager will know this so don't get discourage just yet.

Working with fuckin LEOS soooo freaking annoying... they talk more than they do... and they are attention whores... Scorpio and capricorn hard workers but bromance rigth there... pisces we are more like you...

Thank you for those that have responded. I spent the afternoon crying in my office because of this group. We were supposed to have a meeting at 2:30 this afternoon. I go into the conference room and everyone is already in there in deep discussion. (They had even ordered pizza!). I asked them if they had started without me and they admitted they had. They claimed that the meeting started at 2 not 2:30. I've checked my email and calendar multiple times and it clearly states the meeting was supposed to start at 2:30. I calmly told them that I did not appreciate them starting without me as we are all supposed to be a team. A couple of them just treated the situation like a joke, and others just seemed annoyed by me. I lost it on them and started crying. No one said anything (I think they were shocked) except the Libra woman rolled her eyes. She really is miserable. I left the meeting and locked myself in my office. Thankfully it's Friday and I don't have to see any of them again until Monday.

I'm really considering leaving the group...

What in the heck is your moon sign? are you a guy or gal? When I'm in work situations like that I usually take charge. I've always been a boss or in control, I'm not a control freak thou I listen to the others ideas. There are times I do put my foot down it gets the others all riled up in the group. I do work on the principle work smarter not harder I don't go trying to hog all the work I don't want to work more than the others.

In your situation the only real control freak in your group would be the Scorpio, I could see the Leos butting heads with the Scorpio a Leo really wouldn't butt heads with a Cancer, never worked with a Pisces or Capricorn, worked with a Libra they kinda like to do things their way.

Hi everyone, I am new here. After reading all this, I wanted to chime in. Cancersmith78, I hope you are not the kind of Cancer who tries to please everyone by being so agreeable. When dealing with Leos, Caps and Scorps, I recommend showing your grittiness and toughness from the first get go.

Try linking with the Scorp. Just to let you know, many Scorps I know do not like people who flutter around and try to be friends, play nicey-nice with EVERYONE. Scorps have trouble trusting those who try too hard to be liked by everyone. Scorps like to know who will be watching his/her back. Once you have a Scorp on your side, you will be protected. Scorps are very loyal, reliable and consistent to those hey trust.

My personal experience working with Leos have pretty much been disastrous. I worked with a Cancer, and we successfully bullied off a Leo. She left the organization. I pretty much will only work with that Cancer and few other Scorps. As of now, we work extremely well together. BTW, I protect the Cancer if I think another Scorp is being too controlling, asking too many questions, pushy---so I tell him to back off.

Yes, I admit that I am the type of cancer that wants to please everyone. I understand that everyone is not going to get along all the time, and we're going to disagree. The thing that upset me the most last week was the fact that all of them decided to meet without me. Yes, in all probability it was a misunderstanding, but it felt like they were trying to push me out of the group. We'll be meeting again on Friday; I hope to talk with some of the people in the group before then. I'm going to try and talk with the scorpio like it was suggested here. I also want to reach out to the capricorn in the group. The Cap actually emailed me this weekend to apologize for what happened Friday which I was surprised by. She also seems to get along really well the other group members, and has influence. Is this a good idea and what is the best way to approach caps? (I'm new to the whole astrology thing, if you can't tell 🙂 )
Also, what is everyone's opinion on pisces? The pisces in the group is probably the least bossy of all of them, but they come across as moody. I'm not going to bother with the Libra and Leos. Those people have made it clear that they want to do things their way...

I'm a Pisces... but to I'm cancer asc... so I am freaking moody... I like to work hard, enjoy working relentlessly and quiet, I enjoy real team work, I'm very agreeable, but not a pushover, I will voice my opinion when necessary.. but if you try to take advantage of me or take credit for my work... I will snap big time, I have great work ethic, but again I also act very cancer like because Ive heard Pisces can be lazy at times. ... I hate lazy people and attention w*ores (LEOS) lot of them like I said before will talk more than they will work, they will plot, they will crate caos... to get attention, and then they will cry, nag and bitch they been working so hard an everybody else is dragging their feet, if by any chance the team fail they will blame someone.

Caps are hard workers, but they like to climb the ladder, and they will not stop for no one... they can back stab big time if that's what it takes... Scorpios are similar but you can actually appeal to emotions... caps and scorpios together are hard workers... but also they will throw you under the bus with a big smile if you get in their way.

Lol, steer clear of Leos. If you are a Water sign. My experience with Leos is they talk big, all words, try to dominate BUT NO actions. They all seem to have an opinion but don't do anything about it. LAZY.

Libras go for the flash--I think they tend to gravitate towards the loudest, most obnoxious. Maybe to them, the loudest, most obnoxious must be the smartest, a leader material, perceived dominance.

You, as a Cancer, I highly recommend targeting Scorpio and a Cap. I have little experience with Pisces. Once you have Scorp and Cap on your side, just slowly watch the power dynamic shift and before you know it, a Libra will start kissing up to you.

Advice: if you get a Scorp on your side, better show your loyalty and give him/her no reason you will ef him/her over. Good example is: if a Leo verbally shoots down a Scorp's idea, better jump into a fray and ask a Leo why the idea is not good, etc.. All you have to do is stick out your neck ONCE which a Scorp can witness. It wouldnt surprise me if the Scorp thinks those two Leos (bet they laugh a lot, OUT LOUD) need to be shot down via a tranquilizer gun.

Instead of trying to please others, try taking advantage of your intuitive skills. Pay attention to your intuition, feel out your teammates' emotional state/vulnerability. You will know who to target, swaying them to your side. Definitely avoid creating drama, becoming all histrionic.

I recommend Scorps because they tend to be most compatible with Cancers.

BTW, the Cancer I work with used to cow tow to others, letting people make demands on her. I asked why she'd pit up with such unnecessary garbage. I asked her why she lets people assume that they can push her around, treat her like a doormat.

Ohmigod, she gets vicious, you can see the quick flash of rage in her eyes if someone seriously overstep boundary with her, lol.

Anyway, I have been training her how to be an azzhole when necessary, from the very first get go.

Hi cancersmith78, hang in there! I agree with the others here on the Scorpio and Cap. My best friend is a Cap and he prefers that I be up front and honest with him, even when I know he's not going to like it. And in him I have a fighter who out of respect will make sure my ideas are considered even when he does not agree with them. They prefer respect and for people to be themselves.

Our cancer shells go two ways, you can hide behind it or use it as a shield. Note that we can attack with shields.

If you're willing to use your shell to stand up for yourself, speak up about your thoughts (in a respectful way, don't be opinionated) on different ideas the group presents, offer suggestions like you wanted but in ways that improves the ideas the others in the group have, I bet you will be heard and respected.

The key part here is how important it is that you respect yourself. It doesn't matter if you're friends or not with your group, what matters is that you be a team player, be yourself. Like others have mentioned, no one likes someone who has to be friends with everyone. And no one likes a pushover. Being yourself you will have people who don't like you and then you will have people who do. But they will all respect you for it. You got this!

Thanks for all the advice and support! I know I need to work on not being a pushover and trying to be everyone's friend. I??ve had brief conversations with the scorpio, cap, and pisces. I talked with all three about what happened last week and how I was feeling about the group. The good thing is that I think they all heard and understood where I was coming from. The bad thing is that I could definitely sense some hesitation from them as well. I'm the type of cancer that will blow up when I get pushed too far, and that is what happened last week. And while I think the scorp, cap, and pisces know why i happened, and I don't think they were impressed by how I handled myself (I'm not impressed either??_). It??ll take some work to build the relationships.
Also- any advice on how to handle the Libra and Leos in the group? In my brief interactions with them so far this week it's apparent that they look down on me even more than before after last week??s incident.
Fridays meeting should be interesting to say the least??_

cancersmith, it's good that you had a talk with a Scorp, Pisces and Cap and told them of your concern. What were the end result, meaning solutions? I think at this point, you are going to have to work pretty hard and make it known that you are doing your share of work. I do agree that Scorps and Caps are hard workers and definitely do not slack off. If you become associated as an emotional vampire, drama queen, you will lose all potential allies, including a Scorp because you would be perceived as an obstacle to completing a particular job. Which will lead to an increased frustration and resentment, and you will be scapegoated. I hope you will do all you can to avoid this.

Definitely follow one poster's advice about working hard, being consistent and reliable with having an excellent follow-through on communication and projects, tasks. I would recommend avoiding any more exhibition of emotions "drama",

Patience runs pretty thin in a work environments. If you still feel emotional, maybe it would be better for you to talk to a licensed therapist about your communication skills and how those skills may be affecting you professionally and personally. I can definitely tell you that having an emotional meltdown is not appropriate at a workplace. It's better to have it around people you trust and will support you no matter what.

haha, yes the majority of the people in the group are women. 🙂 There are actually only two men in the group.

Oh God I don't wish this drama on anyone 😢 I went through similar scenario and The Scorp female was older then me, bossy and power hungry. She ended up stalking me at work and her final blow was getting HR involved trying to get me fired. I ended up leaving....Her minions were a Pisces guy(aka her bitch) and another older lady I think her sign was just plain bitch. But anyways I lasted about year and half. How much do you like your job— In the end it may not be worth it to try to play these politics. Women can be ruthless :/
