My dearest Cancer galpal is having a rough couple of months..
Work and relationship-wise.
So I'm having her over for a girlie weekend at mine and I was wondering what would be a good movie we can chill out to?
Chick flicks or dramedy... Action or scifi lol
I really don't know.

She fell asleep to the last two, first movie I put on was Harold and Maude...
Then The Proposition... Both no go I think... Like I said, she fell asleep.
Then we went to Cracker Night (live comedy) and she fell asleep in that as well!
She's either reeeeeaaaallly tired or we have very different taste hehe =\
Tips please!

Heya xMoonMan, too true!
I know it's cool to play it by ear, but I really want her to just kick back and relax.
I was thinking of just hittin the video store together, so she can browse and I can follow her cues or something but I have
5000 movies at home,

You know, every time we hang out its always 'something'
Art show, live gig, stand up, poetry reading, festival you name it we go there...
I want her to not feel pressured to be On.
Which to me equals zoning out to a good movie, in pjs and a wine.
Just.What.To.Pick! Aaargh!

All very good suggestions, meh on Keira Knightley... Rest of them are pretty ace.
I was thinking Moonrise Kingdom, pretty quirky comedy, bit try hard visually but loved the dialogue and the characters were tough (on the inside)
But ugh will she like any of it? I'm knocked for six after the snooze fest in recent months...
I'm just being insecure... She will love it.
All of it.
Or else. =P

Looper was good, I'm digging Joseph Gordon Levywhatshisname a lot.

I'm keen for Cloud Atlas too, I'm dying to see Star Trek more than anything though.... DYING!

And of course, sign me up for the three hundredth Die Hard... Although I'm dubious about the actor they got playing his son, Aussie lad....

Anyway, topic at hand- thanks for the input.
Very much appreciate it, it'll be fine. Maybe that's my job. I provide a safe sleeping environment... *eye roll*

Yes, Limitless, unequivocal agreement on that! Fantastic movie I thought, loved the idea.
Keira, I just feel like she got typecast with Pirates, that franchise is a fraud. A total front. Dislike.
But, based on your rec I Will check her out a bit more, so thanks for that =)
Althoooough I seem to recall her in a Dickens remake... Which wasn't bad, but that's not her acting, that's the writing. In my humble opinion...

All good suggestions!
okay, historical, series, or silver linings. That was a great movie, very lighthearted, I loved it.
Otherwise would a Cancer be in to Breaking Bad?
I have all the seasons... my fave.
Or, Californication?

What is Game of Thrones...?
Moonlight Kingdom is a sort of morbidly quirky coming of age tale involving boy scouts and other... things... camping... maybe not...

What about Pineapple Express...? is that light enough?
Seriously guys. I'm worried she is going to Zzzzzz before we even have dinner lol

Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind
Awakenings
Defending your life.
Fearless.
Life of Pi.
What dreams may come.

okay cool, more suggestions... all good movies too,
and Breaking Bad, scratch that...lol.
I didn't know it was a Leo thing, as far as I know a lot of people like it and I do too =)
Californication is awesome, I didn't know girls weren't allowed to like it.
Pineapple Express, one of my all time faves, wasn't aware i had to be signed up to the Bro-code for that one either, dayum I sure need some schooling haha!

Lighthearted is a great idea, but if I didn't say so earlier she fell asleep at a live comedy night! The comedy wasn't my suggestion, she bought the tickets!
I'm starting to wonder why we are friends! I kid I kid, she's awesome.

Of course chicks are allowed to like it!
I've seen up to season 5 of Californication.

Very funny, well written, great character development and they work well together.

Fully takes the piss out of hollywood pretentiousness but at the same time it delves into some of the emotional and psychological challenges of being human.
It also has some quite poignant moments.

xMoonMan, your breakdown ticks all the right boxes lol

The Wire is on my "have to watch list", I also heard it's awesome. But besides Star Trek, BSG is my favorite tv series. From new SF movies I think I only like District 9, and I liked it very much. Also Frank Oz comedies, like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I watched it recently after many years and I pissed my pants 🙂.

AAAARRRGHHH Star Trekkkk... I'm having a Homer/ doughnut moment, cannot wait to see the new one!

The Wire is very good, it really was one of the forerunners of the gritty, in your face, really real dramas.
It changed the way things are written for TV...authentic is the word..? I may be looking foorr..?
Have you seen The Bird Cage? That's a classic funny
in my opinion hehehe

One last post have you seen that movie "bridesmaids" ...or you can just go out to a movie ..star trek is playing in theatres and my siblings LOVED it.

Heeey Clueless!
Yeh, Bridesmaids is a good option... Perfect for a girlie Saturday night in =)
I do want to see Star Trek at the movies but I also have an inkling sci fi isn't her thing. Bummer.
Based on what we usually do she likes anything intellectual, arty, visually magical.
I'm not sure if that's cos she can't relax and needs to look a certain way socially when we hang or reflecting her actual interests?

Which is why I want to get it right but I'm also suggesting things like Breaking Bad - which is epic, because she might want to be exposed to something she wouldn't normally go for.
That's why I tried Harold and Maude (classic) and The Propositon (gritty action, good story).

This Game of Thrones, I now realise I have been seeing it mentioned on Facebook a lot..,
I didn't realise it was such a phenomenon!
I know google is my friend, but what is it basically about? I'm getting a dungeons and dragons vibe, with a side order of sex and violence. Lol.
