Interested, or typical cancerian behavior?
I most definitely think he's interested! Canerian like myself are never direct we alwasy hide behind the bush with or intentions because we afraid of let down or coming off too much at times..I think you should try to help him to say what he really wants to say because he seem like his also shy like I am....but yeah i think he's into ya.

Yeah it seems like he's really into you but be careful because the speed he's moving at and the cheekiness of him going getting your number from the contact list, giving you a pet name and texting you in the first week strikes me as just a little bit player-ish. I know alot of genuine men wouldn't do that so as not to scare a lady off. Hey, I hope that he is genuine for you but i'm just saying be careful.

I've heard that cancers tend to be very emotional and clingy, and I've been told that I'm quite the opposite (not emotional and somewhat aloof). If I don't recipricate with as much eagerness as a cancer, are they more prone to give up or keep chasing?

Yes he is interested in you. Why would he get your number from the class list instead of just asking you? We Cancers like to do things in an indirect, round about kind of way.
we do thing indirectly cause it is kind of a defense mechanism..if the situation doesn't turn out the way i wanted it to then i really haven't invested anything so no big deal. hence, if i was direct and got shot down then that would sting a lot more. remember we are emotional creatures and are very careful who we decide to let close to us..i know sounds weird but that is my thinking..
He's moving to fast for me. Who does that gets ur number from a phone list? sounds creepy to me. Just be careful and don't let him take control of the situation. Be a friend.

& honestly when I'm around people I think that are better and prettier than me than I'm very shy and feel uncomfortable.
With other people,
I've been mostly called a snob, controlling, overreacter, & i ALWAYS stick believing what I believe for any case an Aquarius or Taurus will try to change my mind using both fact, reasoning, and appealing to my emotions.
The only way of my being convinced to do something is to feel guilty!

I'm new to the Cancer board, and I haven't had much experience with them at all. I met this guy about a week ago and my instincts are telling me that he may be interested, but I'm not positive. We have a few summer courses together and he initiated conversations with me on numerous occasions in class and via AIM. He also got my number from the course contact list and texts me periodically throughout the day with something cute/funny. He even has a weird pet name for me! Yesterday, he told me he missed me because I hadn't been in class that day. Keep in mind that I've only known him for a week and nothing has happened (physically) between us as of yet.
