Told cancer guy I liked him

Just wondering what yall think of this...

I work with a cancer guy, he only started in my job May 2019, but we hit it off straight away, I was responsible for training him in. So we have spent alot of time at work together, about 6 weeks after he started he got my number and we would message each other every evening and weekend and continue to do so He's quite shy and in his shell until he gets to know people. I wasn't looking for anyone as my previous ex boyfriend had just passed away and I was in mourning really.

During the summer, alot of our colleagues noticed there was a spark between us and I dismissed it as I didn't want to be office gossip but it's quite a small office. He would do alot of things for me and any time he passed me by, he would poke my side or playfully punch my shoulder or flick my hair, he would stand very close to me as well when I was showing him things at work. We have gone for meals after work and a few drinks but nothing has happened.

At Christmas I told him how I felt, via text as I couldn't get the words out in person and he said he was flattered and wanted to chat but hasn't actually chatted to me since about it all,I'm left in a bit of a limbo here. He continues to do all the playful touching and teasing. He is 8 years older than me and has a daughter from a previous relationship he still gets on with the mother very well just said nothing would ever happen with them again



I'm just confused and wondering should I ask him what he's thinking or wait another while before I ask him to have our chat...

Ask him on a date and see how it goes.
