I either about to blow up or totally shutdown! Don't know which, but I feel it coming. The way I'm feeling right now leans more to exploding. So need to get this feeling under control - DO NOT want to sabatoge my career.

I am so fustrated with a work situation and the continued lack of communication and wish washiness as well as constant changes that we are not informed of but are expected to know! I ask my boss a question and get an answer to a question I didn't ask. Am constantly having to re-ask the same question in several different ways before I get a proper answer. Finally it comes down to short and blunt question like "do this or not?" or "so...yes or no?".

Please, someone talk me down.

I feel you. Really annoys me in the workplace because we (caps) have a very logical and simple view on things and we just need simple, basic, CLEAR directions. You need to only direct ONCE and we're good to go. But then you get people faffing around with innuendoes and 'YES! you CAN read my mind so no need to explain anything properly' type people. I hate when people don't teach the BASICS. Especially when you've just started somewhere new. To me it's just logical to do that. But Anyway.

I deal with it by directing a person in conversation to get to the nick-pic of whatever I need to know about. This may take repetition of the same question in a different form depending on the retardness of the person, but I won't stop until I'm satisfied. I even say something like; 'Sorry for having to ask you again, but just so I'm clear, you want me to do...' It's long to do but I remind myself....people communicate differently.

I do it for my benefit so I can get my work done properly. My questions have always been to the point so I always make myself clear. Sometimes I straight up say look (ya edjit) I don't understand. The confused look is usually on my face for all to see anyway. LOL.

Hope you feel better 🙂

I've just re-read what you wrote and I'll add that I have had to sit down with some bosses and have a long chat about how I work and how I need things, because I am really organised and I like to feel confident in what I'm doing. Clearly this job is important and you don't want it to affect you.

Perhaps you could have a mini-meeting with this person and actually discuss what you need in order for you to give your full potential, because I'd imagine at the moment you may not be due to this lack of communication. Be assertive. Plus it will look good to see that you're taking an interest in your role and your development in the company/business etc. 🙂

Thanks yall. Boss (Taurus) breezes in says "blah blah" breezes out (2 minutes tops) before we can ask for clarification. I call her back and ask questions. She seems all irritated like she doesn't understand why we didn't catch on before. I say "what if...then what"? and "when this happenens...what do you want us to do"? She looks at me like I'm an idiot. I feel she doesn't think things all the way through. Some people just aren't as thorough as we are. Everyone else in the department is constantly thanking me for speaking up.

One day we had a series of e-mails in which I was trying to ask a question. She went on a tangent answering other questions I didn't ask and talking about something totally different. After ten e-mails of me asking in different ways and redirecting, I finally sent the original question to another supervisor (another cap) and got the answer I needed right off the bat.

I have expressed concerns, but I don't feel its received well. I feel I'm being labeled as argumentative. I am just seeking clarification. There are a lot of variables that need to be considered.

Very soon though, I am going to be fustrated enough that I will pop out a rude statement and sum it all up bluntly - something like "that's NOT the question I asked you. I want to know this". OR I will shut down and let things go in a very passive way thinking I will let her hang herself. But I am too professional for either and neither would be good for my career.

You are right. If I don't address it again, it will get worse - as in my comments above before I read yours here.

I just think we try to be thorough and clear as possible when communicating, so we like that in return.

I remember showing a Taurus girl how to do something at work, and by the time I finished I could tell she was offended. In a way she mentioned to someone else people(me) thinking she was slow.

That wasnt it at all. I just like for things to be clear as possible, so I communicate the same way.

My mother, Aqua, and your boss would work good together. My mom doesnt need a lot of instructions and communication. Theres always a lot of "what ifs" but she fills in the blanks her own way. I can never wrap my head around it, but she gets the idea/vision and run with it. Thats probably how your boss communicates...in expecting you all to get the idea and fill in the blanks.

I think many would consider us being difficult. Im extremely difficult because I personally gotta know nearly every detail before I move, or feel confident with what im doing. Im not a "I see the vision" type person.

It seems two different communication style s. Shes probably going to feel you need things spelled out to you, but if thats what it takes then let her know.

If I do different, it could mess up what other departments are doing. Likewise, if they don't do it right, it messes up what I'm doing. It's a company wide system where everyone has to add their part to get to the whole. I hope that makes sense.

I have enough experience to take it and run with it on most things and I understand what you're saying, but not this piece of it.

I guess I just needed to vent. She called a meeting today and she is as fustrated with the whole system as I am. So, maybe I've been a little hard on her. She may not be getting clear instructions either.

Thanks everyone for listening and helping. I do feel better!
