Don't worry about it.

I know alot of people in the south that say things just to fuq with ya cuz they love ya.

I have friends that'll rag me cuz its all love. Sensitive things too, like, banana pepper light skinned n(**&.

I say somethingbad about them back with a smile.

I'm used to it though. Thats just how some people fuq with the ones that are close to us.

Like that movie Gran Torino w Eastwood.

Down here its showing love. Do it all the time.

I love some Naomi Campbell and Kelly Rowland.

Shiiish..I got called some things today too. Its all good tho. I think me and this person have seen overwhelming evidence that they shouldn't be within 900 miles within one another. Differences are simply made to be understood.

I know several people who txt me things just to press my buttons..Usually I can ignore it. So don't worry JSophsπŸ™‚

Complexion politics - wow. A huge topic, and one often not discussed in polite mainstream society.

I'd say if someone is trying to insult another by calling them darkie - it's a pathetic comeback, they're probably frustrated and have no other card up their sleeve, and it reveals their own prejudices.

Racism does "suck for the darkie." Let's face it, we live in a post-colonial world where the totem pole is slanted in favor of the lighter complexion people. The more you look caucasian, the more you stand to fare successfully in most western societies.

thats cause fiesty is a vampire...duh. XP racism is just stupid. i dont usually judge others but i will joke around and stuff..i pick on people but in a friendly way. but just hating someone for thier race or religion is total bullshit. people dont realize how firey and venomous i can get. my words have healing powers but they also have a venomous side. i can bring you to your knees. i will make grown men cower in fear. i just deicde to be a nice shy quiet guy who likes to compliment his women friends. so as i said before, fuck those who call you names. this isnt high school. learn to grow up.

Heh. Someone recently told me they were sick of my nigger music. The person was drunk, so I let it go, but she would have never said that if she were sober. Its funny how truth juice works πŸ™‚ You just have to laugh.

My bros and I have been called a lot worse.

I got it from both whites and blacks, but it stings a little more when its from whites. The black folks just teased me with the white girl comments. It wasn't as malicious, ya kno. My mom recently told me that cops once raided their home when I was an infant, and because I was crying hysterically, one of the cops hit me over the head with their stick and told my mother to shut her nigger baby up.

All you can do is be grateful to not be so narrow minded. Its actually quite sad that people live such limited existences. Oh well.

Thank you all for being very understanding. Racism sucks from other races and even worse when its somebody of your own kind. I was really hurt by this but I shall too digress and I won't give anyone the power to lose my cool again. But thanks. Your contribution made a world a difference to me. And I am glad I am not alone.

My niece and nephews are bi-racial, and I know its tough. People look at me crazy when I am with them but whatever. We are progressing hopefully as a nation, slowly but surely. :-)

I'm so sorry.

My two boys are biracial. So I had to play offense and defense most of their lives growing up. Comes from both sides and both sides can be just as hateful and mean. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I always told my boys they were the most fortunate people on this earth because they had both of the best worlds. Unfortunately, they have to see the worst of both as well.

I was so hung up on race when they were little. I was like a mother lion ready to pounce on anyone who I thought would offend them. It wasn't until I travelled outside the country and seen how others communicated did I relax a little and take on a different perspective. I realized that it was absolutely ridiculous to even give that issue anymore control over me. I think my boys benefited from my enlightened experience. They are the most beautiful, well rounded, tolerant, graceful, intelligent young men you'd ever want to meet. I'm so proud of them.

πŸ™‚

Luckily we grew up in NYC, so being biracial wasn't a huge deal. I know biracial kids who grow up in different, less diverse places in the States have a much harder time. My mom never made an issue of it, either. We were what we were, and she taught us tolerance and acceptance.

Being biracial has given me insight that I wouldn't trade for anything.

ha @ grant you a wish πŸ˜› Wow, I couldn't imagine though, seriously.

"t was mostly people you wouldn't expect to have to deal with. I can deal with the random idiots. I justify it by telling myself they are too stupid to know better. It's the people you know, work with, live next door to and are related to that sting. They should know better."

Indeed. My moms parents did not approve at all at first, which was expected, but they eventually got over it to a degree. You sound like my mom though. She's a Scorp, as well πŸ™‚ She is a tough cookie, and always had the 'fuck em' attitude. Its their ignorance; their issue, she'd say. We grew up in the projects, and she was like the only white woman there with her 4 mixed kids... She had no choice but to be thick skinned lol It was all good though. She never had a problem there. She always said she'd much rather raise us there than in California where we were born.

I always have a deep respect for white women with mixed kids, for some reason.

πŸ™‚

That story gave me goosebumps. I can only imagine what it feels like to have to fear what the people you love will think of someone you love even more..your own child. His reaction must have felt really good. And lets be honest here, it would have been hard for him to react any other kinda way... mixed kids tend to be really freakin cute πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜›

You read the book! Wasn't it touching? My mom read it and gave it to me next to read.

"The greatest thing is the affirmation when they get older. Last year, during his college freshmen year, my son told me very similar things as to what you said about your mom. That just makes everything well worth it. All parents question if they have done the right thing. It appears your mom did a great job!! Let her know every single day how much you love her!"

I do, even she pisses me off to high hell πŸ˜›

I had a feeling you were mixed, Sea! lol @ people thinking you're spanish. I get that ALL the time. I know enough of the language to sometimes just allow them to think that I am when they speak to me in spanish, as to avoid the millions of questions and disbelief that follows when I say otherwise.

all these beautiful women getting called names. makes me sad. i have a sister who was impregnated when she was 15. she has mixed kids. i took care of my niece the first yr she was born. that girl was very beautiful. blue eyes. and later on her hair got redder lol. i havent seen her in yrs though being in the navy. but yeah...she was beautiful. her brother was lighter though with blue eyes. he was a trip...really receptive of me. of course when i last saw my neice she was screaming and yelling anytime i tried to hold her or get near her...made me hurt a little but is to be expected from not seeing her for so long. i think ill visit them when i get home from japan. they need to meet thier favorite uncle again. haha.

capricorn uncle. oh noessss. here comes high standards. dont think ill question a 4 yr old about her aspirations in life. loool

"One place I've travelled where I found that people were truly colorblind is Jamaica. OMG....the most beautiful people of this earth."

I wouldn't say they're colorblind, but yes, the people are beautiful. I know a white Jamaican guy and it is truly amazing lol My grandmother is Jamaican, and like most islands, there are disparities between colors. The lighter the complexion, or more 'indian' the complexion, the better=general rule. Of course there are exceptions.

But for the most, most of Latin America/Carribean/West Indies still struggle with the color issue.

Slavery was pretty much an accepted trade in the past. And it wasn't based on race alone. The conquering party held the invaded country as slaves. And that happened amongst europeans with other european people, African tribes held other smaller tribes as slaves, same thing with China, latin America, Aztecs and India ( caste system etc). These days the suppression takes on a different more subtle form. And just because the dynamics are not what you once read does not make it acceptable( for US to harbour terrorists and OK for them to use drones on other countries is another form of suppression. India using the AFSPA on North East people and kashmiri people to kill them on sight despite being Indian citizens for example. China's suppression of Tibet. Zimbabwes handling of the european descent farmers etc).

The thing is we accept forms of suppression when our own people commit it on others because we see it as right even when in hindsight it would be wrong. when the suppressed fight back we name them "insurgents", "anarchists", "terrorists" or freedom fighters depending upon how badly we want to hate or like them. It doesn't make the inhumane acts committed by these people acceptable but the larger more powerful party's reaction to counter it is usually as violent but justified. History will be written differently than how we perceive it today. Our children will wonder why we tolerated some of the things we do today. Just like we wonder why our ancestors tolerated the things they did back then.

I haven't read everything on this thread yet (I don't even know if I will have time), but this is soooo what I would've written since this thread seem to be about racism. Awesome passage MorningMist.

That was awesome for me, I needed to lose that weight, I don't mind being curvy but I was just too damn big. I like wearing 'things' πŸ™‚ and now I can wear my little 'things' πŸ™‚ Now that I'm thinnier πŸ˜›

While I understand why you are coming from, I don't like the fact that you have a good point. Because you do, you raise a very good point, I just don't like the fact that it exist here in the west.

I do believe that it's not as bad here as it is in other western areas. Oh trust me, the USA is terrible with this stuff but we are trying to come around.

With all due respect, grow a thicker skin, NEWS FLASH! the world is full of racist morons and I think we all knew that by now. The thing is, as long as it wasnt a family member or a person dear to you who called you darkie, then what the hell is this whole drama about? seriously. The best way to show people you dont care about them or what they say is by ignoring them or totally disregard what they say. However by freaking out about it all the time, you are only showing them they have power over you and your emotions. Do you want some random idiot to have that power over you?

Like I said before, grow a thicker skin.

You know ... I get what you are saying. Because freaking out isn't going to solve anything, maybe that's why she is venting on here, so she doesn't just randomly freak out, you know what I mean?
