It seems like you are being asked to make a decision between old and unknown idea/opinion. You're either trying to avoid this or misrepresenting yourself to others. You seek comfort, the familiar- but you are forced to deal with current matters.
Sometimes, what we do in our dream represents what we do in our waking life subconsciously. What makes you run from these people in your dream?
I run from them because I fear them but I also fear confrontation with them because they may defeat me. They are usually very frightening.

I keep having dreams that I am being chased but I am able to escape. The first one was at a location / home that I have no recollection of. An older unknown woman who appeared to be mentally insane was chasing me and I had hid in a dark hidden room, then later escaped and was greeted by family, and a past lover who hugged me and told me I had been brave. The next dream took place in my home where this time, an unknown man was chasing me and I was able not get caught again by hiding in my closet. This is my third dream like this within a week. Just wondering what this could mean as I find it strange I am having reoccurring dreams of being chased.
