Was watching the pre-oscar thing with barbara walters and although i was told previously that monique didn't shave her legs, i was shocked to see those huge and hairy things in a dress that probably cost more than my car payment.

i remember being at a common concert years ago with a jumbo screen thingy. he called a chick on stage and started to dance with her. her twirled her around which caused her to lift her arm and there on the jumbo tron was her hairy pits.

and back in HS, some religious chicks wouldn't shave. i felt really sorry for the hairy ones. nothing seeing hair through a pair of stockings. it looks itchy.

so it got me wondering, is this common? for the women, do you shave or do you prefer au naturel?

she just likes cake prince.

i think she might've started doing it as part of her comedy. but now, when you can afford to have someone come in a shave them for ya, this is just sensless and gratuitous assault on my retinas i mean she said on the show that it was painful the fist time she did it as a kid. who the hell is she kidding? time to give up the act if you ask me.

exactly! i mean shaving your legs isn't pretentious. if she doesn't want to do it on the regular...fine. but could it kill ya to do it at the golden globes?

oh and she's full of it because her forearms are hairless. if a woman has hairy legs, she has hairy forearms. and them puppies look nothin like the rest of her so she's trimmin that crap but she can't do the same with her legs? yea. oH-kay! i bet she'd pluck the hell out of a chin hair.

hmm, i guess but doesn't it depend on the amount of hair for "most" women (barring any religious conviction of course)?

my mom didn't shave but my mom wasn't hairy, neither do most of the women in my family for the exact same reason. but what monique has going on is just...UGH! not saying she isn't entitled to say f-it but in all seriousity, that dress, at that event, with those legs all because you had a bad shaving experience as a teen? she's wealthy enough to invest in electrolysis. unless she's attached to the hair for some odd reason?

no, that's pretty legit. i watched the oscar special last night and barbara asked her about it and they panned to her legs. she has to trim that stuff or something because it looks somewhat tame but gross nonetheless.

http://images.google.com/images?q=monique% 27s% 20legs&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi">monique's legs - if that doesn't work, do a google image search.

overall, i honestly think there had to be some comedic element about it that's just beyond its time now. i did have a third grade teacher with a mustache and i recall my mom saying at the time, "that's not in style anymore." even as a i child i thought, "anymore—" was it ever in style ? WHY was a mustache on a woman considered trendy?

still traumatizes me.

As long as the hair isn't long and sticking out, it doesn't matter. But if it's going to show that much at least trim it. Like, it's obvious. Wouldn't you want your legs to have a smood even tone to it? shine in the line and show 'em off?
Arm pit hair, my mom hates that I shave. We wax at home, it's not so hard. But I get lazy and shave. I don't like the resoults either, but eh. I don't like armpit hair, or other area hair because I believe that smells can cling on to the hair and make you smell worse. Speaking of shaving...

I def. shave any areas that are most likely to be seen on a regular basis by other people. And even though I don't always PURPOSELY lift my arms/show my armpits, it's no secret that people often lift their arms alot more than they think. It's easier for me to just take 5 seconds of shower time to shave certain parts of my body so that if I'm out in public and/or around others that I won't have to feel self-conscious or constantly worry if others "noticed" any hair in areas where they probably feel shouldn't be any.

Hair that is grown in certain parts of the body where there are more hair folicles & adrenal glands typically carry "odors" if kept for a long time. You can be the most cleanest person in the world, BUT if you keep alot of access hair in areas where a person is most likely to sweat (arm pits, vaginal area, etc), there's a greater chance that not only will the 1. Hair be an unpleasant site to others watching, BUT 2. There's a chance there could be an odor too. This is why males for example, after a long work out might stink a little bit more than a female would persay she worked out too BUT YET was shaved in certain areas (And I say that assuming most men DON'T shave certain areas).

I've heard that some women tend to shave LESS during the winter season. When women start bringing out the leggings & pants, they don't shave AS MUCH the way they would persay the summer time when legs, thighs & knees are more exposed than they would be during other times of the year. The same goes for pedicures during colder seasons of the year; when the boots, heels & winter accessories start coming out, women are LESS worried about how their feet look. In the summer time flip flops & open-toed shoes are more common, thus that'd explain why almost every toe I see on someone else is almost always painted at this time of year.

I admit that I tend to shave LESS in the winter time. BUT it's moreso b/c winter clothing doesn't show/reveal as much skin, thus me shaving certain body parts isn't as high a priority the way they would be persay in the summer time or when wearing certain revealing outfits.

I shave everywhere! If I'm wearing a skirt or shorts, or ANYTHING that reveals a great deal of my legs/thighs, I shave. The same goes for my nails; if I'm gonna wear footwear that is OPEN-TOED, I'll just go ahead & paint my toe nails.

If I'm wearing a strap less or sleeveless shirt, I shave under my arms.

Like I said, I shave regardless of the season or occasion BUT my priority on shaving dramatically INCREASES in the summer time OR during times when certain parts of my body are going to be revealed to others. And it's not even that I care about what men or anyone thinks. It's moreso that it's no secret that having access hair in certain areas of the body can carry odors simply b/c hair is there, so I think it's a good idea to keep most areas shaved, if anything just to prevent any odors.

I don't knock the women who go "natural" BUT I won't lie. When I'm around the women who don't shave BUT YET are always exposing certain body parts to others (under arms, legs, etc.) I always look & wondery why on earth she wouldn't shave! The way I see it, if a woman can't take out the time to shave her under arms, she has NO business wearing a strapless or sleeveless top NOR does she have any business persay lifting her hands up eveyr 5 seconds when she's out dancing somewhere. Just my opinion

I dont see why a woman should have to shave? why are people so offended by hair? It grows for a reason. It is actually more hygeinic to have hair, that is the reason it is there. It's differnt if your the one having to cuddle up to this person but passing a stranger on the street, i might notice that they havnt shaved but I wouldnt see it as offensive.

Society is what tells us that "people have to shave". No one has to shave no matter what they want to wear.

If I was particularly hairy then I might shave more often then I do, but that would be because of the way I want to look. I honestly do not give a damn if I offend someone by exposing a hairy pit, they should not be so superficial!
