Because we feel as though we are superior to others therefore only WE must be heard!

JOKES.

But no seriously, between you and me, I dont know to be honest. Im June 13th and I KNOW I talk about myself A LOT. I cant help it though. but the thing with me is that a conversation wont be ALL about me, i'll interject questions for you to answer also, and sometimes when i notice im talking about myself too much and dominating the conversation i'll stop and say so what about you?? Just depends who the person is and the mood im in. A lot of the times i'll be very quiet and introverted and I will just continue to ask YOU questions and find out about you and then I realise I rarely said anything about myself but I have gathered all this information about you and your grandma and your dog that had 4 puppies but two of them died crossing the street etc etc lol. Other times i'll realise I just dominated the whole conversation speaking about myself and about how GREAT I think iam lol and I know nothing about you.

I think with me its, if im interested in you and you've struck my curiosity then I'll ask you questions and let you talk. If i really dont have a major interest in you then i'll just talk and talk and talk (a lot about myself mainly).

I like talking about myself though. Call me shallow but hey i've never had any complaints!

Are you therefore claiming that it's your Gemini Moon and Rising making YOU talk about yourself so much? o.O (Then what makes you stubbornly not listen to what you're told over and over, insisting, "But.. but.. I want to do it THIS way, cuz I've always done it THIS way... even though it's clearly not working, I'm sure I can MAKE it work if I do it the same way one more time!")

And here I just thought it was your obsessive need for attention and validation, or maybe some kind of contest (between you and who knows who else) to see who can create the most threads about themselves. You're winning, btw.

Do you Gems talk about yourselves ALL the damn time— 🙂

We are having to resort to entertaining ourselves, because everyone else is boring 🙂. At least we are not talking about all the exes and the how they did us wrong song. Nor are we for the most part asking other signs how to get that sign to like us or date us or do us. We already got that in the bag. So what is there left to talk about other then ourselves. We would prefer to use this board to learn more about ourselves and others then a dating or break up guide. Maybe we just need some stimulation, we don't care what kind bad or good just something to break up the monotony.

LOL, very true. And when others get bored, they pop up here in the Gem boards to see what we've got cooking. Haven't really visited the boards of the other signs except for Virgo and they talk a lot about themselves too. Then again, duh, isn't it what all these boards are for, to understand the sign?

Anyway, hi CC and the rest. I'm moving places and I'm exhausted cleaning my place out. I'm not yet done and part of me wishes I could turn into a virgo and just do compulsive cleaning. This is waaaayyyy too boring but it must be done. Sighhh....

Pfft! What I'm doing is working rather well, tyvm! A little huff and puff now and again, but, I think I am fairing just fine... soooo much better than before - of course, my choice in men has greatly improved! One who is a little more insightful as to who I am. Something Pisces can't seem to grasp. Why are Pisces always so suspect— Thought they were supposed to be psychic or something.... *rolls eyes*

It's all distraction...To distract YOU (the generic "you") from the fact that we've figured you out before you've managed to finish saying your name. I'm not being facetious, any self-aware Gem is like this and understands exactly what I'm talking about. It's smoke and mirrors my dear. We know when someone is nice to us because they want/need something from us, are being fake, are frightened, etc.

Right on the dot -- especially the smoke and mirrors part. It's like a magician's patter -- to distract the audience so that the illusion can be successfully performed. Plus, when I used to do interviews for my articles, I found out that talking about myself actually puts the other person at ease (because you're sharing too) and then, they feel more comfortable about divulging information. Sometimes, it's not even direct. You talk about something totally out there and from their responses, you get a better feel of the kind of person/character you're dealing with. And then, the Gem adapts accordingly depending on their interests and purpose.

It may seem a bit underhanded but there are many ways to skin a cat (again, depending on your purpose) and this is a way that is second nature to Gems. Just be wary of the non-evolved Gems because, of course, it's a good way to get conned too.

Actually, I've been trying this approach with my Virguy and now he says I talk too much and that I don't really know much. The first is true -- but what the hey, I was doing it on purpose to draw him out, lol. The second shows how much he underestimates me and, of course, that know-it-all virgo trait. Frankly, I have nearly had it with this virgo arrogance. Sure, they analyze stuff and are very logical but if they don't share it -- umm, what am I going to do with that?

Okay, sorry this turned out into a virgo rant but seriously, they are really one of the most boring people on the planet (maybe except for your hubby, CC, LOL -- disclaimer there) and the boring plus the myopic arrogance. BAHHHHH!!!!!

And I know what the Virgos will say -- that all the crankiness, the criticism, the yadayadayada will be worth it in the end --- oh, puhleese. Learn how to get along with the rest of the world who have social skills!!

LOL at Virguy rant.

Don't listen to him. He's probably just pouting because he realizes he's got a lot of catching up to do in the knowledge department. Like he's going to come out and state that. Ha. So he finds a roundabout way of thinking aloud without actually thinking aloud. See? Ah, the joys of a Mercury-Mercury match. You keep him on his toes and he knows it.

Yeah, I figured he's projecting his insecurities onto me. When it comes to education, I'm much further along than he is BUT that has never been an issue with me because the way I see it, we complement each other. If I'm booksmart. He's streetmart. I'm theory and he's application. I know I'm not perfect since I have trust issues from my evil decepticon ex and that's my bad BUT when it comes to something I have actually worked hard for and you tell me that I don't know anything, I will beg to disagree.

I know that virguys can get to be self-loathing and overly critical of themselves and I do encourage and support him in the things he's good at but this crab mentality of bringing others down in the name of insecurity, that really doesn't sit well with me. Still, I am trying to get along, say my piece as neutrally as possible, counted to ten, took a deep breath and just walked away from the situation.

At that precise moment, a good male friend I used to date got in touch with me, said he missed me and we got caught up which brightened my day. Ahhh.. the joys of being a mutable sign, lol.

So I don't know what to do about his insecurities. I mean, he's made his choices. I don't judge them. But seriously, don't take it out on me.

I think I shall let this simmer for a while while my own buttons are 'touch sensitive'. You're absolutely right -- actions speak louder than words and that's what I'm going to watch out for and then decide on that basis.

On another thread where Cappysweetie was venting, someone opined that it might be the retrograde and the full moon that's messing up with tolerance levels. Hmmm -- wonder when that will be over.

One must give credit where cridet is due
a GYM can set in front of a mirror and talk to there selfs all day long
with out being bored
It would bore the rest of us to death
but they like to listen to there selfs.

Its a ego thing

Well, who's the target audience anyway? Who needs to be entertained? The GEM... (which, for a while back there, I had visions of treadmills and power gliders from your post). So we don't really care if anyone else gets bored because they're not the target market. Go find your own ways to amuse yourself.

When we set out to entertain other people or be pleasurable company, the motivation changes and so does the tactic. Then again, compared to Gems and their incessant exploration of anything and everything, the stories others have to tell seem less fascinating ... so when the smoke clears, that's what gets remembered.

Be more interesting and fascinating and a Gem will take a step back and lap up YOUR story. Until then, it's a level playing field and some of us may find the brooding critical Virgo boring, the overly mushy Pisces boring, the preening of the Leo boring... well, you get the picture.

Geminis just love to talk. Sometimes my gemini tells me the same thing over and over and I just say uhuh uhuh so I don't hurt his feelings.

Yeah, and because we talk to a lot of people and update them periodically, sometimes we forget what we said to whom! Well, I give them an "opt out" and usually start with, "I told you about this already, haven't I?" before launching into the whole story, lol.

it's because..no one save myself is interesting..and I'm just an egocentric bitch..

lol

j/k..

it's more like just me wanting to make the other party more relaxed, thus into a mode for them to speak about themselves and open up.. by opening up about myself..by talking about myself..I share my personal stuff with them and hopefully that makes them open up and want to talk about themselves..if that makes any sense..?? :s
I tend to self deprecate..hoping that others have some good laughs and find it easier to be themselves..to share their awkward funny moments..breaking ice, I guess, in my own way that is..I could(have) make(made) jokes about someone else or at someone's expense..but then sometimes it'd backfire and be just plain mean..on the one hand, making fun of oneself is relatively safe and easy (for me, at least)..thus I talk about myself..🙂
