Alright, so I've never been a runner. Though I love playing sports when I was younger I always had a problem with my stamina. Growing up with asthma killed any and all attempts at endurance training.

Anyways, I found out about c25k not so long ago and I fell in love with it! However life keeps interrupting my progress and I never manage to finish the full 9 weeks. Still, with this program I managed to run for 5 minutes straight for the first time ever. I know, I know, for those of you who do 7 minute miles that may seem like nothing, but trust me - when you were so asthmatic that just making it to first base seemed like such an ordeal it's something.

So I am on Week 3, Day 2 of this program (after restarting a few times) and I was wondering if anyone else on here has tried this before, or at least would want to join me on my mission to run for 30 minutes straight. C'mon guys, I can't be the only one wanting to get fit and healthy!

Well the first question is how are you controlling your asthma?

It was much stronger when I was younger, but as I grew older it didn't hit me as much. I used to own an inhaler but now I only get it after extreme exercise during certain weather - and even then its controllable.

Thanks for the support though! Are you a runner by any chance?

Not necessarily. I used to play soccer for like 14 years. I dabbled a bit in track, but since I got my running in soccer, I stuck with it.

So, Tora, how are you doing? I skipped too many days so I'm still on week 5. I was feeling like I was gonna die, but I went with a friend today and I guess I was going too fast because I felt much better today.

Admittedly I am not doing it as often as I like either. I'm on a six week vacation, while I do have some time to run it's not very consistent.

I did just finish my week 3 today however, so that means week 4 is coming up! I'm nervous about the five minute run though - this place is so incredibly hilly and going uphill is MURDER on my legs.

Running with a friend must be fantastic, I bet you guys kept pushing one another. How are the 8 minute runs?? I'm dreading them already.

Wooo! I just finished week 4, day 1! Wow, I felt so good and I was so close to the 5k mark (4.8k overall). Gotta say I'm pretty proud of myself.

How did your run go, Capgirl? And here is hoping week 5 is just as easy for me as it was for you 😉 As for lungs, yea that's the part that gets me too - plus I run in an incredibly hilly area so I try to time my long runs when I am running downhill.

Can't wait til the end of week 5, that's when I get some proper running shoes! I'm going to a runner's store to get my gait analyzed.
