Yes, Element is usually more compatible with their own Element, but there's more to Astrology than your Sun. Astrology is a GUIDE, not carved in stone, and LIFE & EXPERIENCE changes us all -- but I'd say the Gemini... unless they have a Scorp Moon or Venus - those seem to often make people incredibly intense, jealous/possessive, sensitive/hurt/insulted and sometimes vengeful in relationships. All of those things would drive most Libras banana cream pie, and cause clashes when the Libra's faults and foibles trigger these "Scorp emotions"... unless they had similar placements. Other planetary placements CAN alter compatibility beyond mere Sun signs.. such as.. a Gem who is actually TOO Watery underneath (or "too" anything that's not very compatible with the other person)... or hey.. a Scorp Sun with a lot of Air/Fire and little Water could certainly be more compatible than an otherwise not very compatible Gem, for example.

And FFS before someone says I'm bashing Scorpios... I ADORE Scorps generally speaking, and I am one of those who understands their emotions, the "darkness within" and their need to be secretive and "test" you, and even their jealousy and how hard it is for them to truly trust. But most Libras won't, unless they too have other placements that give them an edge in dealing with the Scorp part... or the Scorp Sun has other placements that "softens" the clashing characteristics - for most Libras do things that would drive a Scorp to homicide, given enough time!

It's rather like my own Pisces Sun not generally being very compatible with Libras for long term. But I'm not very Watery underneath my Sun... I'm more Earth and Air and a bit of Fire. And my Libra has plenty of Earth under all his Air and a bit of Fire. Our TRUE "Elements" are more like Water-Earth and Air-Earth... so HE AND I (specifically) are more compatible than a typical Pisces-Libra (straight Water-Air) pairing, so it serves no purpose for me to get upset when I see people say the two don't work, or when a Libra says they can't STAND Pisces... it matters not to me, and does not affect MY relationship in any way.

So if this is a question cuz of a specific situation (ie. Libra is dating a Scorp, but a Gem wants him.. or a Libra likes a Scorp and a Gem and can't choose... or any combo).. you need MORE than Suns to determine (Astro) compatibility. And you'd need to know more about ALL THEIR LIVES to determine REAL compatibility. The stars aren't EVERYTHING.

The thing is, whenever someone mentions celebrity relationships, I can't help but think it's kind of slanted "proof" at best, and a fairytale lie at worst.. after all, a celebrity marriage might be a total nightmare for the couple.. but for financial or publicity (etc) reasons, they'll put on their happy faces and convince the world they're doing great... until the day they can't take any more and their ugly celebrity breakup/divorce hits the news stands, or one of them is caught cheating.

It's not like any of us have close, personal relationships with these people or spend time with them in more intimate settings like we do our own friends and family, people we actually know. As an example, even if our sister and her husband pretend they're blissfully happy to most people.. we are the one sis confided in about her unhappiness and that her darling husband is actually having an affair with his secretary... they're in couples' counseling to avoid a messy, expensive divorce, but neither is really happy - and it's NOT really the "successful relationship" they try to project. See what I mean?
