Courtesy of Mata Hari on the scorp board:

Hi all. This is a very serious matter...

In 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery, starving him to death. He called this a 'Visual Arts Installation'.

For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition watched the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony, until eventually the dog died.

Does it look like art to you?

But this is not all. A prestigious US Visual Arts Biennial decided that the 'installation' was actually 'art', so that Guillermo VargasHabacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the biennial of 2008.

Let's STOP HIM!!!!!

Please do it.

It's free of charge and it will only take 1 minute to save the life of an innocent creature.

"More than a million people have signed an online petition urging organisers of this year's event to stop Vargas taking part."

"Sign this if you don't believe it is Art."

-----------------------------------

A million people have signed a petition to prevent this from being presented to peoples face, so they won't have to see it .... and a thread was starte to see what our opinion is about whether it's an artform ... however no mention or petition for the protection of an animal ... just the protection from people having to view it at an art gallery, and a question about our opinions on whether it's art.

Interesting ...... it appears the artist has made a good point, hasn't he? People will walk by, and only be concerned with whether they have to look at it or not.

Completely inappropriate for an astrology site - personally sickened by it and would not have read it if warned of the content. Don't think this was your intention but no need to give extra publicity to animal sadists. As an Aries I am not typically emotionally reactive but this makes me sick to my stomach for both humanity and the innocent puppy. If you really need to determine whether this was art or not than you should be consulting the advice of a physician not dxp members.

((Torturing an animal is never a means to make a good point.. The only thing more revolting is that people actually walked by and SAID AND DID NOTHING!))

Sometimes we all need such sickening examples to make us think. Torturing one dog and showing it to others would definitely make them sick. But they will begin to think next time they see one in a bad condition. Else nobody cares. We see it every other day of our life. May be bcoz of this dog, many many dogs will be saved from starvation and torture. Who knows?

That is the point, firegirl ... people DID walk by. This exhibit showed us humans that we would walk by, and not aid when suffering is encountered.

I had read an article about this that said the dog was a very ill stray, and we dying anyway .. he only lasted 3 days before he died.

A human can go 14 days without foog and water, and so can a dog. If this dog died within 3 days, then it was dying anyway.
