How do you feel about abortions?

I feel it is your right to have an abortion. It's not an easy decision for anyone. I am pro-choice.

I am pro-choice, but only for abortions very early on in pregnancy. Late term abortions I object strongly to. And personally, I could never have one. But that is why I'm pro-choice, is because I believe that every woman and man should decide for themselves and the baby-to-be what is best.

Those against abortion often cry "murder"...well how can you murder something that has no life of it's own, and this is why I think Phoenix and co. have hit the nail on the head by not agreeing to late abortions...

The feotis is reliant on it's mother up untill a certain stage of develpment. From then on it is pretty much a person in it's own right with it's own right...a right to life.

We know this because before a certain age a "FOETIS" is born dead as a miscarriage where as after that stage a "BABY" is born premature.

That point of development has been researched by science and is documented but basically what the science can't explain but what I believe happens is that is the point at which a soul fuses with the body. Only once that happens can you call it murder.

So right on guys...no "late" abortions...

Exactly durrie...I agree with your theory and belief that a foetus becomes a baby when the cells "get" (for lack of a better word) a soul.

The only way I would be against abortion would be because the woman got raped other than im against it. As far as whats worse early abortion or late abortion? It's all the same to me, abortion is abortion, just plain common sense.

I dont think that abortion should be a choice, u laid down to have sex I feel that it is thier responsibility to keep and raise that child.

The only way that I would get an aborition is if I was raped (and statictics say that because it is forced apon you, u are less likley to get preg) Or if I was going to die because of the child is the only two ways that I find it right to have an abortion.

If u dont want to take care of them keep ur legs closed.

Abortion - the only thing I have to say about this topic is:

If you drink to dont drive, if you drive dont drink, and if you gonna get lucky and have sex, then wrap your rascal.

Anyone who gets pregnant by having consentual sex, and is not expecting the child deserves the burden of the child, and learning what parent hood is all about. I have two children, and I can gaurentee you this, the only way they would have been aborted, would have been over my dead body.

I am not prochoice, cause the possibility of getting raped and pregnant at the same time, is some where between 0 and .0000000000000001%

If you spread your legs or stick you penis in there and it aint wraped when it should be, then grow up, take repsonsibility for your actions, and be an adult.

Hmmm...yes Marinesag I totally agree it's about responsibility and people need to be a bit more responsable for their actions but...

Should a child have to endure an unwanted or hard upbringing just so that it's parents can learn a simple lesson like use a condom...etc...

Well..... no they shouldn't have to endure but there are alot of people that want kids that can not have any, and then it goes back to the if u dont want any wrap it up. If they dont want the responsibility and they are going to makee the childs life a living hell then they need not to have sex and resist temptation untill they are willing to make sacrifices.

Abortion would not be a choice I would make for myself. I would feel too guilty.

I think it would be great if they could invent some sort of temporary sterilization implant of sorts that would be implanted in every baby at birth that would automatically dissolve when the person passes a lengthy exam about parenting skills, emotional stability and mental capacity...lol. Seriously, it would prevent society from having to suffer from the effects of overpopulation, natural resources being depleted, child abuse...the list goes on. Just a hypothetical...lol.

I think that it could be a good idea, but again why should they have to invent something so simple. If anyone is going to lay down to have simple sex then they need to simply learn responsibilities.

I know, I actually agree with you scorp woman, I think I would be far more against abortion though if I thought that most people had common sense, and had the forethought to be responsible and not flippant about their sexual endeavors...it's just that in my mind, I see the prevention of a baby as "better" than the crappy life some (not all but some) children will experience if brought into a world where their parents don't want them, resent them, can't afford to feed them, neglect them, abuse them...thus breeding a whole new generation of criminals, psychopaths, emotionally disturbed individuals, and so on.

Trust me though, I do see your side and marinesag's side of things. I guess you could say I'm so close to being "neutral" or "in the middle" of this issue that I am just barely leaning left on it.

Ok- I can see your point on kids who are not taken care of and not being raised right. For that thier can be adoption, there are some wonderful people wanting to have kids and can not.

I agree that alot of kids who do not get the proper attention and love do strange and possible harmful things to themselves and to others for that possible attention. It is very important that kids get what they need all the time no questions asked and that is what the parent should provide. On the other hand though I feel that if u can not provide adiquate care and love for your child then let them be happy somewhere else where they will be taught those things, where they will be respected and grow up to be well rounded individuals.

I dont think that Abortion is the key to peoples problems, that is just like drinking alot of people do it to escape what problems they are having, and I feel as if someone knows that they can have an abortion so many times over, what is it going to stop them? NO they are going to know that they have a safe way out, and we need to make it so that they do not have that right unless they have been raped or the child is going to kill them. I think that is the only way that abortion should be legal.

Everyone has thier own opinion and since it is legal everyone has the right to have one. Myself I would never do it and then again, I am mature enought to handle the reponsibilities and do my best to be a GREAT parent.

I am trying to wait till MarineSag and I am married before kids but he has two from being prevously married and those kids are the apple of my eye, no they are not mine but will be treated no diffrent then how I will treat my own,It is very funny when we had pics done the photographer told them smile at mommy and daddy and I couldn't help but laugh.

I'm a little frightened about throwing my hat into the ring, but I see abortion as a medical issue.

Fair enough, it's a consequence of sex, but (and i'm trying to think of an appropriate analogy), cancer is a consequence of smoking - I'm not going to refuse treatment simply because I knew what might happen when I stuck the cigarette in my mouth. You don't hear people saying 'you sat behind the wheel of the car - you should have known you could have an accident'.

Ok, I know that was a bit unclear - think of when contraception first came in and there was a huge religious backlash because of the idea that contraception was sinful because it was killing a child.

I know it's not as literal as ripping out a foetus, but I think that's where a lot of the feelings, especially guilt and the idea of punishment for ignoring responsibility come from.

To me, abortion isn't a black and white issue akin to sentiments such as 'you do the crime, you do the time'. I think there's a lot more motivating people to be against abortion than the issue of abortion itself. But tht's a whole other story and I really don't seem to have the gift of clear communication tonight!

It is wrong in the eyes of whom? I think you would have to be in the situation to truly understand what goes on in the head of a pregnant woman or a man who is about to become a father. Yes, she did lay down and have sex, but it shouldn't be punishment because she did a natural thing. I am pro-choice up until like the 2nd month of pregnancy. After that, it seem like murder. If you didn't know, it's not a baby yet. It cannot feel that early. WHen you start to feel kicks, then abortion should be ruled out. Think about it, at the moment of conception, you have an egg and what traveled to the egg was some thick you know what. How is that a baby right then? No brain or anything. I am not trying to be mean, but any doctor will tell you when it's a baby. I agree with cortica. SO, if a woman has sex and gets pregnant, that is her punishment. So, if someone smokes then they deserve canver. I don't think so. It is sad though that you can have an abortion up until 8 months! How do you feel about the morning after pill then?

I agree with you 100% But, I also believe that every situation has a humanbeing involved and we cannot generalize or judge them for making a decision that they have to live with. It is the woman that has to carry the burden and has to give birth! I think if a man had to push a bowling ball throught the head of his pee pee he would think twice about getting pregnant and if he is going to have sex, he out to think about the consequences. I, myself, would never opt for an abortion, but I know people who have and you were so right when you said it leaves emotional scares on the woman that sometimes never heal!!! Late term abortions should be outlawed completely. I think the morning after pill is a great thing!

I still think that it is wrong. Another thing I dont think that anyone should be with someone unless there is a stong bond and that they truly love each other this is not something that should be shared with the world. Being with someone is a commitment something that should be special. I feel that all of the people that just have sex with anything that walks should not be given the chance to get rid of something that they made that they laid down to create. I dont think that it should be that simple to get out of something that u caused urself. Think before u do it, as far as cancer, I smoke and I know that I am causing my body alot of harm and the best thing for me to do is stop so in the same senerio, the best thing to do for kids who want to sleep around wrap it up and becareful or STOP!!!!

I didn't say it was right, SM; I said that it is the choice of the persons involved to make what ever decision they think is right for them! And it is legal! It is a medical issue now. They will have to live with it, and it is between them and God. I'm from the Deep South and you a woman even if she wanted and abortion can't get one. They end up doing whatever they can. Not a nice alternative!!!

It is SW, I know that it is legal but it doesnt hurt for someone to use protection. I wouldn't expect anyone to do what they need to do to abort children, but I dont think that it is moraly right and that is how I stand on it....I can not help the way that people think about his opinion and YES everyone has to face the facts and everyone had the right to do what they feel is best for them. I dont like it, I think it is wrong and I would never do it, but that is me and I have that choice not to. Everyone has thier right to do whatever they want to. I respect peoples decission because for whatever reason they did it for it was for them but I can not say that in the back of my mind that is support them and that I feel that it is right. I dont know why people can not substain from sexual contact untill they are with someone they love before they engage in sexual exploration so that we dont have this controversy that way this is not an issue. I know people have the right to do what they feel is best but this is how I feel and I have my right to my opinion.
