I don't celebrate Easter. Haven't since I was a kid. I don't feel compelled to dress in white and head to a local church that I rarely, if ever frequent to celebrate a day that for most people boils down to colored eggs and milk chocolate. With that said, I have a BYOB cookout to go to Sunday...yes, Easter Sunday and where I'm not a big drinker, I stopped in at the local ABC so that I could make a contribution to the libations.
To my surprise, there were a good 30 people waiting in the "cash-only" line. I'm not sure why this particular ABC has a "cash only" and although I had my debit card in the truck, I feared that if I step out of line to get it, I'd come back only to be in a worse point in line than I was before.
So there I stood and weathered the slow and agonizing ascent to the counter only to realize that for every step I took forward, the line got longer and longer and longer. As person after person passed by myself and the clerk who was on "don't steal shit I'm watching you MOFOs patrol," I couldn't help but to feel a little sad. Is this how we prep to celebrate Christ's Resurrection? We get WASTED!?!?
i don't mind having a get together as i'm going to one. but i have NEVER seen so many people in a liquor store in my life. i mean, the line was literally wrapped around the aisles. people were socializing like we were standing outside a club waiting to get in. either folks are just that miserable or there's a party going on this weekend that i REALLY need the deets on.
