Saw these beauties heading South this morning. They've definitely got the right idea. Fall is coming and I'm SO not ready for summer to be over. Wish I had had a giant lasso with me, I would have fashioned myself a harness, roped em and strapped myself in for the ride down to warmer weather. Anyone else live in areas with short Summer season and hate to see it go?

Share what you'll miss or what signals the change for you. For me the first sign is always these birds leaving us....Next would be the leaves. 😢
Or even better share beautiful pics of what Summer is like where you're from.

If winter here didn't get SO cold and wasn't SO long I wouldn't mind it as much. It get's to be about -40 to -60 on the worst of days and can last a couple of weeks at a time. I think that's (-60) about -76 Fahrenheit for those of you whom aren't Canadian. And yes that is a MINUS in front of the number. That's so cold you pretty much can't be outside longer than 15 minutes without risking frost bite unless you are packed up TIGHT! Tighter than a seals wah wah! 😉HA! You can have your eyes exposed but then your eye lashes get stuck together. Hilarious the first few times but not soo much if there's also a snow storm LOL! It can be brutal. So no going outside makes this outdoorsy gal a little antsy. If it's only about -20 then it is tolerable. Can still go out ski-doing, walking or ice fishing on the lake and all that fun stuff. But I'm definitely a spring, summer & fall gal. Need the sun on my skin. Fresh air that doesn't knock the breath right out of you when you inhale. The smells in the air that you can only get during those three seasons. I like to be bare foot wearing comfy light clothing with my feet in the sand sitting by a bonfire, the lake in front of me and surrounded by nature. That's home! But I digress LOL! Thank you all for sharing. This thread has made me smile. And I can definitely see how some of you enjoy winter being where you live. As I said I do like it, it is beautiful, just WAY too long and cold here. Or Summer is too short here. Either way I'm rambling now so I'll just STOP! LOL!

You must be in Alberta yes? I'm not ready for winter either, neither am and never will be. Too long and soooo cold...bleh. Your pictures are beautiful btw
Why yes I am in Alberta. 😄 How did you guess? Are you a fellow Albertan? I'm not ready either, you get so busy being out as much as possible and enjoying when the weather is nice that time just slips past you and you live in the moment everyday soaking it all in, until one day.......THE SIGN!!!! Fall and then....dun dun dun....Winter is approaching LOL! Hence the Geese (my first sign, always). I've lived here pretty much my whole life and you NEVER get used to that kind of cold. There's no way to really. Mind you I probably tolerate it better than one who has never experienced it would. I do happen to like cold plunges hahaha! And how LOOOOONG it lasts is the other kicker.

Thank you! Even though it does get brutally cold all those images are the beautiful things I get to see and experience when the winter's chill lets up for the year. It DEFINITELY makes it worth it, but you find yourself longing for those views as the winter months drag on. And I'm lucky enough to live in an area where I can see almost any kind of scenery I want within a short drive. 5 minutes from a beautiful lake and forests all around. Hidden lakes and little coves everywhere. Mountains and crystal clear blue water only a few hours drive away, and the desert is a few hours away as well. Get to see the northern lights. Star gaze. It's a pretty amazing place to live. Minus the cold LOL! But I would never move because all the beauty more than outweighs dealing with Jack Frost.

We don't have winter where I am. Only monsoon season, which I think is nowhere close to winter. I need to move.

You're so close to the equator!

Our winter is brief, and some years... it's non-existent.

But once every 12-15 years, we'll have a snow flurry!

The weather is bi-polar, tbh-- we just never know what

we're going to get. :/
