My favorite childhood book was (and to be honest, I still love them) THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS (AND WHAT ALICE FOUND THERE) by Lewis Carroll. My favorite childhood movie was ALICE IN WONDERLAND. I still have yet to read the book ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, the other one by Lewis Carroll. I am currently reading up on all the theories surrounding Carroll and the meanings behind the Alice books...very interesting; I had no idea all the theories out there!
i liked alice in that game where she gets to kill ppl and wonderland is this whole spooky scary place..MWAH HWAHWAHWAHAHHAHAAHAHAH........and my fav book while growing up was the outsiders, wrinkle in time, summer sisters, and comic books 😉 and fav movie was the last unicorn LOL and when dogs go to heaven HAHAHAA and rover dangerfield or wutever? HAHAHA and uhhh cinderella MWA HWA HWA HWA and uhh.. yeah the thing i hated the most was the movie, E.T.
Hmmm....let me see...I loved to read! I don't know that I have a real favorite. I guess fairytales were what I had the most access to...my favorite one was about the good sister and the bad sister. Because of giving water to an old woman at the well, the good sister had a gold coin or a diamond come out of her mouth every time she spoke and the bad sister, who refused to give the water (saying something like 'aw, help yourself! you don't look paralyzed to me!'), had toads and snakes coming from her mouth every time she spoke! LOL! I don't remember the title.
I never read Alice in Wonderland...maybe I should! I have read The Outsiders (I loved the poem by Robert Frost that is in that book...How does it go? Nature's first green is gold Her hardest hue to hold Her early leaf's a flower But only so an hour Nothing gold can stay (— Now I am going to have to look up that poem...because I can't remember it all! LOL! I know this is not the whole thing...) I also read A Wrinkle in Time...I loved both of those books...but, I was 12 or so when I read those...I was younger when I read the fairytales. Cinderella and Snow White were also favorite fairytales that I read. But, I had a nightmare once about women coming after me all dressed in weird hats like they wore to the ball in Cinderella...and I couldn't get inside the house and they kept coming and coming...YIKES!!
The first movie I saw in a theater was The Sound Of Music and I loved it! I still love it!
I lived in a really small town as a child and teenager...population 83! I still think they counted a few stray dogs or the birds that were visiting on the day of the census! LOL!
Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.
thats kool star!!! glad you and me can relate on these topics! actually E.T is what i fear LOL lets not get into that ^^ but anyway, alice in wonderland, i like the game better but i used TO LOVe watching the movie although the whole basic point to the movie IS kinda freaky but anyway yeah i liked the poem too. I'd love it if they made a freaky game about cinderella LOL although alice looks more better, here's the game i'm soo gonna get that >.
Books; The Hobbit, Charlotte's Web and Little Women Films; Bambi, The Aristocats, and quite got off on the Mr Sheen ads as a baby...It took me a few yrs to realise it was just an ad and not a TV show...lol..I used to wait for it to come on as if it were a program.
'Charlie and the chocolate factory' and 'the wizard of oz' were my favourite films and 'the lion, witch and the wardrobe' and 'where the wild things are' were my favourite books. Good topic btw.
Hey guys! Since some of us like the willy wonka movie, here is a cute quiz to see which character you are most like. Everyone take it and tell the result. I was veruca salt, the bratty girl. http://lax.gaz.nu/wonka/
I love all your answers! I, too, loved Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! I still own that movie 😛 ...as a child I was fascinated by the colors and I had a really weird, unexplainable crush on Gene Wilder, eew, yes I know, it's quite weird. lol.
Star, I COMMAND YOU TO READ "THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS" AND "ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND". YOU MUST ALSO RENT THE DISNEY MOVIE VERSION (1955) OF ALICE IN WONDERLAND. THERE IS NO NEGOTIATION. YOU ARE INSTRUCTED TO DO THIS BY YOUR FRIEND HEATHER, WHO WILL SLAP YOU SILLY IF YOU DON'T. LOL!! 🙂 (Love you Star)
I also liked the goonies, but didn't see it until I was probably 12, so I can't classify it as one of my childhood favorites.
Twinkee, I read the Anne of Green Gables and Sweet Valley High books, too! lol--in fact I read them over and over and over again. OCD alert! hehehe...
Luz, thank you for the links and twinkee too...gotta go now, be back later 🙂
Libragirl--by the way, those are all great ones you listed, plus, thank you for the compliment! 🙂
(My mother wouldn't let me read, "where the wild things are" until I was an older child. She thought it was too scary...I was a little sheltered, as you can see, lol) I loved that book though, when I did read it.
P.S. Libragirl, never read the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, but saw a play of it. I too loved the Wizard of Oz (now THAT one will scare a small child...lol)
'Where the wild things are' fascinated me as a child. Even now when i see it, i pick it up and have a look. Somehow, the marriage of monsters and the real world fascinated me. I used to also liked that show with freddy flute in it (I cant remember the name, but it had the characters 'jimmy' and 'witchipoo'). I consequently went to to learn the flute all the way through high school as a result of that show, and you think you're obsessed.
Dr. Who was another favourite. I was conviced the Darlecks were going to come to my home and invade it. I've got to say, those Darlecks were the scariest things around, especially when they'd do the 'exterminate, exterminate' thing.
Oops, excuse my english in the above post! We not only need a spell checker, but a grammar checker also (or i need to read over my posts more carefully before pressing 'send').
Libragirl, I love C.S. Lewis and have the whole series of the Narnia Chronicles! I also have the movie "Wizard of Oz", but, need to get it on CD... Also vote for Willy Wonka!
Willy Wonka always made me hungry...thank goodness I have candy left over from Halloween to satisfy me. Reading Narnia got me hooked into the fantasy genre (from which I never escaped) My favorite book growing up was "Go Dog Go" by (I think) Dr. Seuss (or one of his pen names). My favorite movie was always the classic Ben Hur- I grew up on that one from my mom. Long live the charioteers!

Yeah I have a question for all of you. Maybe not all of you, but some of you, I've noticed that you mention God a lot. I understand that you're Christian, or just have some kind of strong faith, which most people do. I really don't understand why you have
you know what bugs me? When ppl judge you for the way you talk. So what if the person doesnt talk as intellectually as you? Why do ppl judge on this? Why do some adults think you dont know as much just because you dont talk well as them?? Even guys, guys
Senator Paul Wellstone and his crew and family died today in a plane crash. He was a great Senator and one of the good liberal democrats. My heart is heavy. He did so much good for so many people and causes.
What is your town known for or what is the most unique thing that your town has? For instance, my town is known for their roses and a junior college drill team called the Apache Belles.
What is life all about? I mean, you're born, you live and then you die? Does it really matter what we do in between? Is it important or do we just survive until we die? Im wondering if its not such a bad thing to not have a career? What does everybod

Seeing as there are a few 'regs' here I was curious as to ppl's ages. Sometimes you can get a better perspective on how to answer a post if you know the age of the person you are addressing (esp. in areas of love). I am 36.
Okay, so yours?
