I just got results for my hiv test, its been years since i got tested. I was a bit scared while i waited for my half an hour. While i sat i heard a lady in the counselling room screaming. After a while, nurses rushed in because she fainted or something. My own results were negative btw and im due back for another test in july.

When was the last time u tested, if ever?
Would u think it was the end of the world if u ever found out u were hiv positive?
Would u continue dating the person who got u infected?
Would u tell anybody?
If yes, who?

I've heard stories of women who continued to stay with their men after the fact. I dont think i could, its just too much. I've also heard of some who took revenge by spreading it. Thats just too evil for words.

I've never been specifically tested but I donate blood every other month and they test for all kinds of stuff. They keep taking it so I assume I am good.

Were I to find out otherwise, it would not be 'the end' of the world, but it would significantly shorten it. I would tell immediate family and that is it.

They checked all that with all the blood work I had during my pregnancies. Again when I had procedures done for woman problems ( because I am OCD like that and it was during the huge scares, musn't be too careful ).

It could not be the end of the world. I would continue to live my life to the best of my ability and fight for the time I had left to me with my loved ones.

I would assume if one got infected via another there would be rage for duplicity if not told. If told and one went ahead anyways knowing, well. Musn't be surprised overmuch at the risk taken and met, no? Sticky sticky question that.

I would tell my family and dearest friends. The people I love and whom love me and will stand by me for everything. I would also tell any past partner. They would have a right to know to ensure their own safety and well being.

^^ i agree.
When was the last time u tested, if ever? November 2011

Would u think it was the end of the world if u ever found out u were hiv positive?

wouldn't be the end of the world but it would depress me. after that time was over, i would do all of the things i procrastinated on and travel.

Would u continue dating the person who got u infected?

if they didnt know it, yes i would. But if they did know i would develop a poison that is undetectable in the body.

Would u tell anybody? If yes, who?

yes my closest family and friends.

Chem, if u knew u had about few months to live, what would u do? The reason why i ask is because i was watching a documentary about that british girl who was on big brother, forgot her name. She had cervical cancer and was told she had a few months to live. She arranged a beautiful wedding and married her boyfriend. She was busy with chemo at the time so she took naps during the ceremony due to fatigue. It was so touching, i cried

I donate blood every 6 months, they do test for everything and they send you a full report to your home .

No I would not think its the end of the world...It would be devastating for me though.

I would tell the people that I have been sexually active with. No one else.

Would I continue to date the man that infected me? I don't think I would..I would be too damn mad specially if he knew about it before we had sex.

If he were my husband and it was because he didn't know he had it for something that happened before me, Yes, I would stay with him and deal with it together.

There are many similar stories where one patner is infected and the other isnt. I ask myself how every time i hear such stories. It must be some kind of a miracle or something. I feel like maybe the cure is close to be found because i heard from the clinic today that, kids with hiv+ mothers can now breastfeed up to 6 mnts or a year. I was too nervous to really hear anything, but yeah, this disease is slowly losing the war.

4 months to live! wow...lets see, i would make sure my will is in tact. marry the libra and we would have a huge wedding not the small one like we are planning now. travel to all the places that i wanted to go. finish my book. apologize to the professor who turned down my thesis...think i might do that next week. i really gave it to him. 😢 pay all my debts. plan my funeral. donate all my clothes and belongings that my fam and friends dont want. start my help the homeless adults of america fund and live my last days surrounded by family and friends.

It is encouraged in the States ( and damned good practice ) to get a yearly pap and pelvic exam. Early detection is crucial. For anything. Despite this, during my ablation the tissue removed had squamous cells. This was in my womb perking along unbeknownst to me. They stepped up exam dates every few months to make sure cancer was not present.

although these test are very effective, the earliest detection is the best! i hate the pelvic exam, it feels like she is hammering on my damn uterus and moving organs around that she shouldnt be. im always mad after that exam. i usually have to have some retail therapy before i go home so i dont take it out on others. 🙂

I can't stand that little bottle brush doomahicky. "Little pressure" my butt. I hear those words I'd like to grab hold of the OB/GYNs testicles and tell him he'll 'feel a little pressure' too. 😛 And do they reeeeally need THAT much KY? *squish squish*

CDC estimates 1.2 million people in the United States (U.S.) are living with HIV infection. One in five (20% ) of those people are unaware of their infection.

http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/factsheets/us.htm

scary!

Agreed. Those people are walking around, infecting others - because they think they are "healthy", don't need testing, blah blah blah.

Other idiots don't worry about contracting HIV because they think the drugs will save them.

Fucktards are everywhere.

I agree with prince_pisces, looking up symptoms or hearing about them messes up the brain. I saw one lady who was seeking for donation on tv, she had a giant leg (elephantitis). The dr treating her explained that the disease is caused by being bitten by a mosquito carrying the germ. Early symptoms were leg cramps and a feeling of something moving inside the leg. The moment he said that, my leg cramped and felt funny like there was an ant or something up my leg.

Chem, if i had few months to live i think i would break the law. Some laws are ridiculous. Ever thought about your last meal? If u were on deathrow and tomorrow u were being killed, what would u order as your last supper? Some guy ordered a slice of cake from his childhood neighborhood's bakery, again that was sad. I think i would go all out, order things i never ate, caviar, etc. Or just be an arsehole and order nothing.

They're not really that bad. More of an embarrassment or inconvenience really. Legs akimbo in stirrups, someone with a bright light between your legs while your private parts are splayed open so they can have a poke about. You usually just stare at the ceiling or close your eyes and hope you don't feel two hands on your shoulders.

Funny though isn't it. Twist that scenario a bit and you could care less if the Pope and an entire Dixie Land Band strutted through.

When was the last time u tested, if ever?

I went and got tested a few days ago. I had unprotected sex with my fuckhead Scorp so thought I'd rather be safe than sorry. If anything comes back negative I'll be fucking furious. Silly me for taking a stupid risk!

Would u think it was the end of the world if u ever found out u were hiv positive?

Yes to begin with then I would just have to cope.

Would u continue dating the person who got u infected?

Don't know

Would u tell anybody?

Yes

If yes, who?

My sister and everyone who 'had' to know incase they could be at risk due to me being around them in any way.

'I've also heard of some who took revenge by spreading it. Thats just too evil for words.'' That is disgusting, how could someone be so cruel!

@Elle,

Wow. Did you accept the fact that you were at risk for the disease?

I did. We were getting married, got married. Even moved the wedding up six months. He was at his absolute worse during the wedding and we managed to keep it a secret to get thru that day and then work feverishly on his health.

When you get married, you make a committment. You don't think "If this doesn't work out, then what?". At least I didn't. Perhaps that was not so smart and a bit naive, but there was a lot to deal with at the time. During that whole time, honestly. The doctor visits, the medication, while juggling it all behind the magic curtain. You just do what needs to be done in that moment. Of which, there were many "moments", you don't have time to think about much else.

Reading this has really touched me! I don't know what to say, you are truly a beautiful person. I don't think I would have done the same.
