Well I've had a duo of them come through to my house looking for the guy who used to stay there. Now we're talking about our faith and talks of baptism. What are your honest thoughts on them? I've heard the goods and the bads. I'm not an atheist, I believe in a god but I don't associate with any religion. I prefer to be left in wonder to know what it is. But commence.

I lived in Salt Lake City for close to 9 years. I absolutely loved it there. I'd answer my door with a Holy Bible so they knew immediately to go to the next house. The non-practicing mormons call themselves "jack mormons". (they clued me in to get a holy bible and answer the door with it..like a cross to vampires)

Regardless, the people are very nice I felt very safe there, not to mention waking up at the foothills of the wasatch mountains every morning was amazing..Two things I didn't like:

Saturday's the Polygamists would come to town & shop. (12 wives with 40+ kids per family)

Seeing 12 year olds pushing baby carriages (sex education was banned in public schools) in fact they would praise these young girls when that happened.

Other than that, I will be traveling there ("Best Snow On Earth") this winter, and may end up settling there again in the future. The cost of living is fantastic there, the weather is divine and I LOVE the scenery.

I miss it A LOT.

Utah doesn't have the best snow. not in the world, not in america, not even in the west. it's overrated and it's shit. like most of utah. i hate the place, i hate almost everything about it.

as for mormons? they're every bit as stupid as people say they are. but most people are also every bit as stupid as they accuse others of being, so ultimately... it's almost a level playing field. mormons are normally wealthier and more successful than average, so most people don't really have room to mock them. they have a stupid religion, but the people who mock it the most tend to also be religious, and fail to see the irony in that. because an american talking to god is somehow more ridiculous than a jew being god? please...

the best mormons DO make the best neighbors. but only the best mormons. and if you need someone to take advantage of, turn to the mormons. i'm not promoting that, i'm just acknowledging it. most would give you the clothes of their back. they're for the most part good people. the south park episode is actually an extremely accurate depiction, both of their doctrine and their mannerisms. as should be expected because matt stone and trey parker grew up with a lot of mormon friends.

my family is mormon back to the pioneers. i was the first person in 5 generations of my family to say, "gee, isn't this all a bit irrational and stupid?" then 3 of my cousins did the same, then one of my aunts recently left the church and joined a cult. a real cult; the dangerous kind.

Sounds like you had a negative personal experience. 😢
