How to respond if they say no

A crush of mine was venting about how he broke an equipment for work trying to get a fixed/ replaced. Obviously, I have no knowledge or solution, but I still listened. I offered, “is there anything I can do to help or make you feel better?” He replied, “No, don’t worry 🙆🏻‍♂️”. It did make me feel sad to be honest because I felt useless. Should I let it go or still ask for an update later?

Are you sad because you felt rejected?

You can ask how things worked out but he really just needed someone to listen. Don’t think he was looking for you to offer a solution

I felt useless 😂 I always care/strive to do my best to make the person feel better and this is a first for me. But yeah, that’s what I wanted to see if it’s at least appropriate to how things worked out

Don't under estimate the value in being the person he can vent too. Sometimes people want to just be listened too and empathized with. He wasn't looking for solutions, he was looking for empathy and you delivered.

What you said made me feel reassured and better, thank you ☺️ he gave me a kissy face afterwards, but it’s just my nature wanting to do more. I suppose sometimes, less is more and I’m glad I asked in this forum

Men fix things and find solutions. Women don't. Let him handle this one on his own.

You listening was good enough but men need to work out their own solutions to work equipment that can be fixed.

Yes.. probably would have asked directly to suggest a solution or for an opinion, otherwise it's just venting
