For the people here that are not drinkers do you all run into this problem when out with a group of friends at a bar?

So, when someone offers to buy you a drink, and you decline saying you dont drink, do your friends all of a sudden get weird and awkward?.

Almost defensive like you are going to judge them for drinking.

I have had this happen to me several times with new friends in bar or club outings. I dont drink for health reasons mainly and also for vanity since alcohol can age your skin prematurely as well as help make your hair gray early. Im only particular about someones drinking if it involves a potential love interest. Someone that excessively drinks to me is bed buddy material only.

I dont care what my friends do provided they are not drinking and driving. It's their life and none of my business. But a lot of peeps when someone mentions they are nondrinkers seem to think the person is going to get all jesus christ of latter days saints on them for a full self-righteous seminar

Yes there are some self-righteous numb nuts out there, but someone shouldnt come to that immediate conclusion either. I really dont give a rats, Im no ones parent here. Just dont drive while drunk or pick a fight out of nowhere and we are good.

Most people who don’t drink are bible thumpers and are hyper judgemental.

Maybe that’s why they look at you funny

@slowdive80 I’m sure your friends make obnoxious assumptions like this individual.

No, but I have had my boyfriend told me it’s awkward/embarassing when we go out with his friends on a work night and I’m the only one who orders a drink 😒😒 Is it impolite to drink when no one else is?

Now every time someone I care about orders a drink I will too just so it ain’t “awkward” for them.

You quoted me and the use of the word individual wasn’t very clear
