Are the police these days authorized to do any police work at all, when EVERYTHING is violation of something? Or is it? No one's really sure it seems.

"Have you had anything to drink tonight?"

"Am I being detained?"

"Have you had anything to drink tonight?"

"Am I being detained?"

YES dickface you're being detained on the grounds that you're acting suspicious. There, end of story. Reasonable suspicion. "I smelled alcohol on his breath."

Let's seperate cops taking innocent lives, from cops saving innocent lives... if we're even talking power abuse here. When someone close to you gets mauled by a drunk driver you gonna wish the rights of whoever was behind those wheels were "violated" at that DUI checkpoint. This youtubing baby-boomer offspring even had the nerve to say "This is a matter of principle to me". Get a fucking life, Serpico.

OR, you could just answer a simple question and be on your way. Let's face it,like you said, in the end no one's actually gonna detain you unless they have a reason to. And bickering about it should send red flags. I don't think that's a big thing to ask. Not like they are asking for an unwarranted stripsearch.

Let me clarify, I'm less concerned about what the law says and more about what it should say. Laws change all the time which is why I call bullshit. The police should have the right to make 25 sec of your life a minor inconveniance every now and then (especially after a night of partying) in the best interest of everyone. After all, that's what I'm paying them for. At least how I see it.

But from personal experience, being harassed is not what I'm paying them for.

At least once every two weeks, I'm stopped by the police. Not because I broke a law, but because they ran my tags and saw the prior misdemeanor DWI.

You know what the first question they ask me is?

"Have you had anything to drink today?"

A checkpoint may be a rare inconvenience to you, but I deal with it all the time. It gets old. I don't expect you to understand.
Well are you for registering sex offenders by name and address in various neighborhood watch -programs,or whatever they call them these days? Bc if they've done their time, why keep treating them as criminals too? Obviousely noone wants a criminal record, it makes life harder. That's all there is to say about that. It's inconvenient and unfair maybe (to some) but it's nothing personal.

You call it being harassed, but unless it's the same cop stopping you over and over again, that guy is just getting by another day on his job. That's not to say there aren't those who'll go out of their way to make your day as miserable as their lives are. Frankly I'd like to see more street initiative where I live. It's like they do as minimum amount of work as it's legally possible.

I'm well aware of this.. And if an officer tells me I'm being detained, I will present them with identification as I stated in an earlier post.

However, in order to detain me.. You must have reasonable articulable suspinion of a crime being committed or about to be committed. If not, I say "Am I free to go?"

Otherwise, they are violating my 14th amendment right.
But nice try.
I agree that you shouldn't be pulled over on no other grounds than that you've had a DWI in the past, if that's the only reason you are being singled out.

How about that fucktard with a kid in the backseat @ 1:29. I don't know what the proper protocol is over there but here we go: The cop smells marijuana, asks guy to step outside, the guy refuses to-- correction, he "doesn't consent to any type of search". Who gives a fuck what you consent to, if possession of marijuana is illegal and he has a reason to believe you're in possession, then he has the right to search you. Otherwise, what the fuck is the point of patroling cars if they can't do a fucking thing? So this guy chooses to traumatize his kid over some principle. Great parenting, you sure taught your kid to stick it to the man.

Any of these scenarios could have been handled smoother by the cops involved, no question about it. However when cops don't have rights to properly do their job, and with normal citizens acting like ass-clowns on some imagined slight , and bc they have too much time on their hands, is usually when things turn ugly. They are not wasting your time, they are doing their job. You are wasting their time and the time of every tax payer.

People in these videos treat cops like their mere presence is some sort of crime. There's a time to rebel and there's a time to calm your genitals. I dunno, maybe my Taurus rising is why I sympathize more with the "oppressors" than the disobedients in many of these scenarios.

There are many folks out there who believe they undertand the law and make the rest of us look like idiots when they argue with LEOs and post it online.

For every video like the one above, you'll find 10 that show you the alternate perspective. One where rights are violated.
Yes I'm aware of that. Two wrongs don't make it right though. I just wanted to challange public opinion and highlight the unpopular perspective.

Leos? Pffft...... I honestly think they're Bulls. Those mofos don't even stop for flattery.
