So this weekend my son was at a friends and my daughter was with her mother. I don't get many nights kid free so I decided to go out. My brother had agreed to drop me off and pick me up from the bar. So Saturday he tells me he got asked to work Sunday am, and he wouldn't be able to pick me up. I'm thinking maybe go a little earlier or catch a cab back. Now, I talk a lot of shit and so does he. Somehow he ended up challenging me to find my own ride. He drops me off at 9:00 and I'm on my own getting home, no cabs or money. I say no problem, you wanna make it a challenge, I'll get a ride home tomorrow morning...

Anyway, have you or would you get dropped off somewhere and just deal with getting back later? Oh an this is not somewhere I go a lot anymore. I used to but haven't been in a solid year. Can you talk to people so that a stranger would drive you 20 minutes?
Yes I did get a ride home, no I didn't pay for it.

I've never been that carefree to say F it, I'll worry about it later 😢 As Miss Fisk said above...not a wise thing for the ladies to do.

My friends tease me by saying they've never seen me 'DRUNK', hell yes I get drunk - just not crazy, stupid drunk. When I go out I usually drink and have fun but when I'm ready to leave, I start slowing down on my intake and begin sobering up. Don't know what it is, something just kicks in...I hate having that out of control feeling. Could be I was married to an alcoholic for 17 yrs.

*shrugs*

But I gotta ask...did you purposely latch on to someone for the sake of having a ride home? 😄

Sidenote, what are norms for designated drivers? Friends, family, do you pay, take turns? How do you all normally get home when you go drinking. I know this might sound dumb but I've never dealt with it before. I always just drove myself but decided no more drunk driving (yeah yeah, I know it was bad). Any suggestions there besides normal dh or calling a cab?

I'm almost always a designated driver if I go out. My friends LOVE this..lol. I don't take their money either. If there is someone out I know and I notice they are 3 sheets to the wind, I always offer. Once in a blue moon I'll go out and a friend will insist to take my place as designated driver. (few and far between) I don't go out to get wasted. A good buzz initially, food and water after (if I'm driving). If I do have a designated driver, I still won't over do it.

No, the ride was surprisingly easy and I didn't latch on to anyone. I danced with a couple ladies, sang some karaoke, and even got a very nice pair of breasticles smashed in my face. I was a perfect gentleman.

The owners daughter is a bartender there. I've talked with her (and her fiance, it wasn't like that) there many times before. I hadn't been there for a while, we got to talking, me and him had a few shots, then went to his truck and smoked a bit. They live near me and he offered a ride home. We were all there all night and talked on and off but I didn't follow them around or nothing haha.

What's up with your brother being kinda douchey? I would never leave a family member stranded, no matter what the exchange was or what time I had to get up in the morning. If it was pre-arranged and already decided, stick to your guns.

If I'm stuck driving, definitely no more than 2 drinks tops. I wouldn't bother going out at all if I didn't have a way to get home.

I was a bit irritated he changed plans but I was at home when he told me. It's not like he dropped me off then said figure it out. I'm not a big partier and really only went last night because my son went to a friends. He doesn't stay the night at his mom's on her weekends so I normally only have an afternoon free, not the whole day and night. I was in rare form.

Besides, he gets time and a half on Sundays. He offered midnight but said 3 was just too late. That's when I started mocking him for being old. I can see how it escalated into challenges.
